Derwent House

Most of all the staff, they were incredibly helpful and delivered a fab service. Especially Tash and Luca. This truly felt like a home away from home for us. The perfect start to our trip.

Great breakfast

Our room was very musty.

Derwent House was fantastic. The team, from start to finish were so friendly and helpful, organising airport transfers, a full day peninsula tour and giving us recommendations for dinner etc. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and the thoughtful touches like freshly baked cakes each day and the honesty bar complimented the excellent service. Breakfast was included and there was a great range of freshly 'cooked to order' hot choices and cold options available. Gardens felt safe, the hotel had good security and Kloof Street with its restaurants and cafes was easily walkable. We would definitely recommend Derwent House to family & friends and wouldn't hesitate to stay again when we next visit Cape Town.

A charming small hotel, beautifully appointed and decorated. Wonderful, attentive staff that goes out of their way to make your stay even better than you thought possible. Ready with incredible recommendations and arrangements. Wonderful breakfasts, cozy night caps and cake by the wood burning fireplace. Room 4 has Table Mountain views from 4 windows! The ambience of this place is the best we have ever experienced.

We stayed there 3 evenings. Luca, Tashe and team were lovely. Lots of recommendations for the city experience. Breakfast was fabulous and the rooms and quaintness of the Derwent house were top notch. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a home away from home in Cape Town.

Small boutique hotel that specializes in superior customer experience. All staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

The staff are all incredible- very friendly, helpful and fun… always there when you need them but it never felt intrusive. The breakfast was over the top wonderful!! The complimentary afternoon tea and sweets (even delicious soup!) was such a nice extra. Our room was so comfortable and equipped with everything we could want (and more!). In a lovely area. We had heard of high crime in Cape Town but never felt even remotely unsure of safety. There is someone on staff present 24/7, a locked gate and even a guard that patrols outside in the evening and will escort youbto a nearby restaurantnif you don’t opt for Uber. We took Uber everywhere, since they are quick, reliable, safe and inexpensive. Stay at Derwent, it is lovely!!

My daughter and I absolutely loved our stay at the Derwent House for so many reasons, the main one being the amazing staff. The entire team at Derwent house showed such graciousness and warmth during both of our stays. Felt like we were coming home to old friends who were happy to see us every time we walked in the door. The property itself is beautiful - tons of natural light, colorful and fun furnishings and decor, great location within walking distance to shops and restaurants. There were plenty of delicious breakfast options on the menu every morning, and we enjoyed all of them! I'd love to come back to Cape Town just to stay here again.
