"Piping hot shower!!"

8.0

For 35 bucks a night, you can't beat it. I originally stayed in one of the rooms across from the balcony rooms. When I saw that the balcony rooms were empty I asked for one and they gave it to me no problem. The shower was piping hot and like a jet shooting out- it was great! Free breakfast every morning. Wifi seem to work well, TVs in room. High 12 foot ceilings. Negatives- it is loud. You can hear everything happening on street. After a day or two I saw most in that area. From hotel to mitidad del mundo is a 15 dollar cab ride. I made this place my base of operations. Went and climbed Cotopaxi, which they helped me book with condor trek 200 bucks and a great guide named Pablo- 2 day. The catch the c-4 bus line to quitunbe station then catch a bus for 3.75 to Banos. Great time.

"Lo recomiendo100%"

10.0

"Good budget option in Historic Center"

8.0

Great location, near to everything in the historic center of Quito. Excellent service. Good and inexpensive restaurant. Free wifi worked great. Minor inconvenience with a bathroom light that went off every few seconds unless it detected movement, but that was a small price to pay for an otherwise very enjoyable stay.

"LOcation, location, location"

10.0

The hotel is located very close to Independence Square. So close that you do not need a taxi ride, even at night. Booked two rooms for a family of four. They were spacious. Great hot showers. Bed linens were a bit scratchy, not what you would call "hotel quality". Rugs were quite stained but seemed clean. Breakfast was typically Ecuadorean: sandwhich, eggs, coffee, fruit and juice. Front desk help was great in assisting us with tour info. They suggested the double decker bus which was a great way to see the old and new Quito in one day. We were there on our way to the Galapagos and did not have time for more than the overview. Internet access was available along with a computer. Bottled water available for purchase in the lobby. A nice place to stay on a budget.

Good for short stay, in the heart of the colonial city, 2 blocks to the presidential house. Very nice breakfast included in the price of the room.

"A charming hotel with a home-like atmosphere"

8.0

This is a charming hotel located just blocks from the Plaza Grande in the historic district. A nice little daily breakfast is included in the price of the room. If you choose to eat lunch there, it is only $3.00 and quite filling! The personnel are very cordial and attentive. I had a very nice room with a balcony overlooking the main street -- Calle Mejía. High ceilings in the room and bathroom. The bathroom was great and had plenty of hot water. I'd suggest asking for a room with a street view. One day I was privileged to see a parade coming up the street for Carnaval (their version of Mardi Gras). I stood on my balcony and took pictures. Fantastic! I was at Hotel Catedral Internacional for a week, then went to Cuenca for 5 days, then came back and spent 2 nights at the Hotel Catedral Internacional before flying back home to the States. I made friends with the manager, the people working at the reception desk and also with the chamber maid. It helped that I speak Spanish, but even if you don't, you'll get along fine there. I definitely recommend this hotel for a pleasant (and economical!) stay!

"Cheap sleep, decent location in Centro Historico, dirty sheets"

6.0

Cheap price, good location, friendly staff, but dirty sheets. The sheets weren't changed after the previous guest. I spoke with another couple that had the same problem. I'm all for water conservation but finding hairs of another person in your bed is gross.

"Good but not great."

6.0

Hotel Catedral was nice. For the price the room was great. The room was not what we expected; but if you are a group and are traveling on a buget, this hotel can accomodate three or more people to a room. The hotel was far from the airport and there was not a lot to choose from when it came to dinner. Area businesses closed early. It was close to the public train/buses.
