The Buttonwood Inn on Mt. Surprise

Beautiful quiet location with great hosts serving an incredible property.

Bill welcomed us right away and gave a quick tour of the property. It was a great stay, the breakfast was delicious, kudos to Paula who does all the cooking and even made some vegan treats for my wife. Overall great place!

The food was absolutely incredible and the innkeepers were so welcoming and kind. The inn was cozy.

We had a great time, the inn keepers were friendly and the location was perfect. I loved the trails out the back yard for a walk/hike. Our room was above the kitchen/dining area and I'm a very lite sleeper so I could hear the kitchen door swinging when Bill and Paula were busy in the morning getting breakfast ready and the clock below us every hour it chimed.

Buttonwood Inn felt like a cosy home away from home. We enjoyed our stay at the property. The room was comfortable and the inn has a lot of character. We loved the dining area with small curios lining the window sills. Tea time in the evening was a very enjoyable experience. Paula bakes some amazing cookies that you must try. The breakfasts were great- every day brought something special and it was consistently amazing. Bill gave us some great tips for places to explore locally- Diana’s Baths, Cathedral Ledge and they were amazing with the fall colors. We loved the game room in the basement. There are some nice articles outlining the history of the inn. They had some newspapers from the 1880s framed. Apparently it was used as insulation in a room and came out during a renovation more than 100 years later!

I loved the fact that it is off the beaten path, very quiet and rural although not far from the main roads. The food was excellent.

Great old fashioned but very up to date, lovely, comfortable inn/bnb. Perfect location off the beaten track near North Conway in the White Mountains. Low-key affordable luxury and warm hospitality. How we haven’t known about this place before I don’t know, but we’ll be back.

I’d go back just for the breakfast alone. That being said, the inn was neat, clean, comfortable and quiet. The perfect place for a getaway. Plenty to do in the area as well. We’ll be back. Great innkeepers too.
