Quinta do Pego

What a place!! The views are spectacular, our room was so comfortable, the food delicious, and the service was impeccable. We did it all there - had a delicious lunch overlooking the Douro River, walked around the vineyards, did a wine/port tasting with a staff person, had dinner and then breakfast and also picked fresh oranges off their trees. We had a busy trip to Portugal and our stay at Quinta do Pego felt like a day at the spa (although we did choose to hike around the vineyards). We loved our stay there and recommend wholeheartedly. We also want to thank the staff - we left something there and they so nicely found a way to get it back to us.

Amazing staff, restaurant on-site, wine tasting on-site, incredible views of the Douro Valley and simply a can’t pass up property. Will definitely go back.

One of the most picturesque places we have ever been. Had we known how wonderful this place is we would have planned for a longer stay. Quaint, quiet, and beautiful plus wonderful service. Be sure to do the wine tasting and gourmet dinner.

Stopped off for lunch and some Vino, if we could have booked in and stayed for a few days we would have! Staff were very friendly, location magnificent, 10 minutes drive from Pinhao, beautiful hotel and facilities.

Breathtaking vistas and views The chef and the sou chef churned out an amazing dinner but the menu is the same every day so one may want to skip a meal or have just one The infinity pool was beautiful Staff excellent hospitable and efficient and friendly to the core Rooms are small but comfortable and well equipped with all modern amenities This is a hotel to be enjoyed for your entire stay there’s no need to go anywhere except for a walk along the fuel river and a boat ride Am at loss describing the beauty of this hotel

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing few days. The room was well appointed and with a wonderful view. The pool was excellent (large, clean and also benefiting from that fantastic view). Our dinner experience was special each evening; the food was good and the staff made it an occasion. The only disappointment was a low key welcome on the first day - we were given little more than a room key. We had to work quite hard to get information about what was on offer - either in the hotel or in the local area. Tip for guests without cars - be wary of taxis. Either agree a price or check the meter is running. We used taxis for 6 trips. For 4 trips the fare was reasonable but for the other 2 the price was almost double what it should have been (and what the hotel reception estimated). We were given various excuses by the hotel but they really should be able to secure a reasonably reliable taxi price for their most popular local attractions.

I gave the hotel 5 circles, but there is one thing that spoiled our stay: the walls are very thin and there was a family with little kids and a baby next to us that woke us up at 6am. However, since having babies in a room next to you is not something that probably happens often in this Quinta, I didn’t want to penalize the hotel. Other than this one thing, our stay was perfect. Pros: - The room is beautiful and comfortable, with huge and functional closet, outside terrace, and other comforts. - The beds are reasonably comfortable - The food (dinner) was simply outstanding. This was the best meal we had in all of Portugal. (By the way, Casa dos Ecos lunch at another Quinta not far was great too, but not quite as good as this dinner) - The service was great Cons: - Antique wall hair dryer in the bathroom - Tiny twin beds.

Fantastic is the word that comes to mind. From the moment we entered the Quinta, we experienced phenomenal customer service, absolutely fantastic food, and a clean, safe, and very reasonably priced piece of paradise. We can't say enough good about the staff, the tranquility, the location, the facilities, and the food and wine. Quinta do Pego is an absolute winner and a must for anyone visiting the Douro Valley and Pinhao.
