The motel owner/manager was extremely helpful and friendly. The location was right across the road from Lake Te Anau, and easy walking distance to the town centre. Washing machine and dryer solved issues in getting laundry done.

I had a very good stay at Red Tussock Motel in Te Anau and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. It’s an excellent base for exploring Fiordland, with a convenient location that makes it easy to access the town centre, lakefront, and tours to Milford or Doubtful Sound. The unit was clean, spacious, and well-equipped, with everything needed for a comfortable stay. I especially appreciated having a kitchenette, which made it easy to prepare breakfast. The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and overall it felt very well maintained. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, providing helpful local tips and making check-in quick and easy. Their attention to detail and care for the property really stood out. Parking right outside the unit was also a big plus, especially after a long day of exploring. Another highlight is the location—you can simply walk across the street to the lake, which makes it easy to enjoy the waterfront, especially at sunrise or sunset. Overall, Red Tussock Motel offers great value, comfort, and convenience in Te Anau. A reliable and comfortable choice for a short stay in the region.
