"Stranger than fiction"

TRAVELER BEWARE I’ve stayed at many HILTON properties over the years and have generally had positive experiences, so what happened during this stay was not only shocking but deeply unsettling. Within minutes of checking in, we received a call from the front desk asking us to come down to the lobby due to a tornado warning. We complied without question because that sounds serious. When we got downstairs, only a handful of guests were there — not the entire hotel. No announcements, no urgency, nothing that resembled an actual emergency protocol. That should have been our first red flag. The next morning we received a second call from the same front desk employee asking me to vacate our room so that pest control could come in and treat it. I said No, I’m working and I don’t want a room filled with chemicals! She said, “okay, we will do it another day” At that point something felt very wrong. I went down to the front desk and questioned her directly and she actually admitted, that the pest control story was completely fabricated. Her exact words were that she just wanted to see if we were in the room. I asked her “what is it to you whether we’re in the room? It’s paid for”. She shrugged and said “I don’t know.” No explanation. No apology. Just a shrug. The whole thing didn’t feel right, it didn’t feel safe so we left. We reported the incident to the front desk manager and contacted Hampton Inn corporate headquarters. The hotel refunded our unused nights without dispute and apologized. A formal corporate complaint is on file. It was the oddest thing and it makes you wonder how often staff may target guests and then call the room phone to see if the coast is clear.

"Very lovely place"

Lovely property, clean, well maintained. The breakfast lady Kathi is such a delight and love the breakfast scones. This hotel was located near our friends house....I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The staff was so helpful. We came for a funeral. Our room was not, ready, we needed to check in early. I was in consent contact with your staff about early check in, we needed to change clothes before going to the funeral. I was told they would do everything to accommodate us. The rooms were being cleaned when we arrived, but we would be late if we waited to change, so your staff allowed use to change in a vacant conference room, it was 5 of us. They check to see how long it would take us to get to the funeral. The staff was just so caring and sincere. We made it on time to share this difficult time with our family. Blessings to your staff. The Sanders family.

"Racial Incident"

We stayed at the Hampton Inn, 4200 Midamerica Lane, I55 South, in St Louis, MO. on September 1, 2025. Honestly, we feel we had a strange encounter with the older lady checking us in at the front counter. First, the lady gave us a strange look as we walked in and her eyes kept looking at me and my lady friend who just happened to be white. I am African-American. Don’t know what that was all about, but she kept this serious look on her face and absolutely had no smiles for us. Hey, maybe she was having a bad day. But, after taking my credit card and checking my drivers license (extremely slow and closely), she then proceeded to asked me to write down the full description of the vehicle we arrived in. She specifically said, (as she look out the window at our car), give me a description of the car you came in outside. She requested the make, model, color of the car and any other description of the car. Honestly, this made me feel somewhat uncomfortable because this had never happened to me before at a Hilton property. And, I am a diamond's honors member. I’ve stayed at many Hampton Inn over the years. I would like to mention, there were no section on the check-in form that asked specifically for car descriptions and details so I had to write it in on the form. Does anyone know if this is a new policy or was this a racial discriminatory incident. Honestly , I just don’t know what happened.
