The Gibside Hotel

Staff were welcoming and helpful on arrival, and throughout our stay. The room was warm, the mattress was comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was good, served by friendly staff in a comfortable, bright, nicely decorated room. We enjoyed a delicious evening meal on both evenings, but weren't told that the kitchen closed at 8.15, however, staff obliged by serving our desserts after the closing time, which we appreciated. There was plenty of coffee, tea and milk in the room, and packs of biscuits, shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom, two large towels and two hand towels, and a bath mat to step out onto.

A non slip mat for inside the bath would have been useful. A warning should be given that there are no lifts within the hotel, and that there is a long flight of steps for access from outside to reception. It would have been useful to have been given two cards to access the room. We were surprised that there was no USB socket in the room, luckily we had packed a mains adaptor to enable us to recharge our phones. There was no way that the kettle would fit under the tap to fill, we used a cup to pour water in.

Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Bar closed early and restaurant not open

At front this time, road very noisy but understand for the price that's what it is. Will be back!!!

Location, Food, Staff, Cleanliness

Toilets need updating.

The bed was big and comfy. The room was clean. The staff are professional and friendly. The bar meals were good quality and reasonably priced. The location is excellent for shopping at the Metro centre, it bussing into Newcastle.

All was good.

Stay in junior suite, there were no power sockets beside the bed. Had to charge phones miles away. Room service didnt pickup when using phone. Had to talk upstairs to main bar.
