"A good alternative to a hotel chain, very convenient for breaking a long journey."

The room was well appointed (we received a free upgrade to a suite), although some of the decor is a little tired, particularly the bathroom. The bed was enormous and comfortable. The dinner was tasty and the portions were very generous and was clearly popular with locals.

The hotel is showing signs of needing upgrading, particularly the bathroom. Being close to the motorway there is road noise when the windows are open, but it's fine with the windows closed.
