Apu Lodge B&B

We enjoyed this inn tucked away in charming Ollantaytambo. Peaceful and scenic setting. Good staff and breakfast. This town is a good place to stay for several days and to explore the surrounding area.

Cheerful, friendly staff, OK breakfast, strong shower pressure, very nice location, but very creaky floorboards - which is a big problem if you are in one of the two 1st-floor rooms

This hotel is a bit of a walk from the main square where taxis can drop you off. However, it is a lovely little place, nestled up against the mountain on the edge of this charming town (village). Our room was clean, comfortable, and lovely. The staff were great. Helpful, attentive, friendly.

We spent three nights in this comfy and homey little B and B, and we loved it. The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful, doing everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Mike gave us great hiking advice. Also, we booked tours of the Sacred Valley with Apu Lodge on the way to and from the Cusco airport, which turned out to be both efficient and economical. And if you're thinking of doing the same, we can't imagine a better driver and guide than Reynaldo. The breakfasts were delicious, healthful and plentiful (they provided a very early breakfast for the day we took a day hike). We ate and drank everything and had no tummy troubles whatsoever :) Also, Apu Lodge recommended restaurants in town that were similarly safe. Filtered drinking water is available free 24/7, so bring your water bottle. Hot water, and an assortment of teas (including coca) is also available in the lobby. The bathroom was great ... but we learned not to turn on the cold water in the shower because it seemed to turn the hot water off.... The gardens which surround Apu Lodge are filled with flowers (and herbs) and they are beautiful. Spend some time relaxing in the hammocks after sight seeing or hiking. We had a quiet second floor room with a stunning view of mountains and Inca ruins. What a spot to watch a mountain sunrise! All in all, a wonderful little B and B.

A bit tough to access since you need to transport your luggage over 200 yds of cobble walkway, but once you're there the grounds are very well kept. Only a three minute walk to the main square in Ollantaytambo, and only a 2 minute walk to the entrance to some really nice mountain hiking trails.

I stayed two nights at Apu Lodge during my trip to Ollantaytambo. It is a very cozy place, with nice gardens and a great view of the surrounding mountains and some ruins too. It is well located too, 5 minutes walking to the Plaza de Armas. The bed was great, big room and a nice hot shower. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Just be careful with mosquito time, not leaving any door or window opened. I recommend this hotel and I would certainly go back there!

The town of Ollantaytampo is quaint and very convenient for getting early to Machu Picchu by direct train. The Apu Lodge is located about a 15 min walk from the station and about 7 min to the center of town, where all the restaurants are. The service by Mike, and American expat was excellent. The hotel had good basic features like clean rooms and beds and a reasonable breakfast. However, unreliable hot water was a drawback.

Found the rating too high. 4* is OK but not above

While it is a walk from the main square, this is a lovely oasis of a hotel. The gardens are beautiful and small size makes for a very personal feel. Breakfast was delicious and the service helpful.
