Hotel Laurus - Liburnia

On booking in we were upgraded to a room with sea views on the third floor. The view from the balcony was magnificent overlooking the adriatic. The room was large and comfortable with a very large modern bathroom. The breakfasts were made with local products served in the Laurus restaurant (which we had one of the degustation menus - and it was very good). Sitting on the patio or in the restaurant was such a relaxing feeling that it makes me want to return and spend more time just relaxing and taking in the beauty of the area.

This is a wonderful new hotel that is linked to a deservedly popular fancy local restaurant. The suite was great, but the promised view was only two small windows in the living room area. Still it was upscale and the staff was warm and helpful. While we were on the top of the hill, there was easy access to the town down below, which provided a lovely walk through a town that was once the vacation spot for the Austria-Hungarian aristocracy. We didn't hang here long, but it looked like great swimming and boating.

Great hotel for the price. It is very clean and modern. The rooms were pretty simple, but about what I would expect for the price. Free parking onsite and wifi is a definite plus. My only complaint is that the staff seemed to be more concerned about running their restaurant than tending hotel clients. We did eat at the restaurant which was pretty good (4/5).

A good hotel with parking and a view high over the water. Opatija is worth a visit

This hotel and its restaurant were absolutely wonderful! The staff was extremely helpful and made us feel like we were part of their family. They offered shuttles that dropped us off and picked us up in Opatija as well as offered us plenty of options/ideas of things to do. We stayed in a room with a terrace and the view was breathtaking, waking up to a beautiful ocean every morning was great, and breing brought coffee in the morning by the staff made our mornings that much better. The restaurant was another great experience. The food was amazing and the wine was paired perfectly by our waiter. We never eat in hotel restaurants but we ended up eating lunch and dinner both nights here because we could not get enough of their food. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. We are already planning to go back in a couple of months.

This was a great hotel. It was our 7th hotel on this trip (Italy, Slovenia, Croatia), so I had a lot of comparisons. It deserves a higher rating than a 3 star. Great parking, modern style, great views from the hotel. The staff spoke English. The room was large sized with hardwood floors. It was a great value for the money. The restaurant on site also was very good with fabulous views of Opatija. I chose this hotel in Opatija over the alternatives in Rijeka that didn't look quite as nice. Although, I didn't get a chance to use it, they also had a nice pool area in the back of the hotel. I am a bit concerned that I paid through Hotels.com and the hotel insisted that I pay them as well, saying Hotels.com is only a reservation. This hasn't been my experience with my other hotels.com reservations. I haven't seen my credit card statement yet, but I know Hotels.com has been good in the past in workig out issues like this. I liked the hotel so much I am willing to overlook this issue.
