Calabogie Peaks Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection

Perfect for a short stay for our family of 4.

This property “OBrians North” is conveniently located directly across from the chairlifts and the Black Donald pub. However the groomers are noisy through the night and the adjoining walls are paper thin. The chalet had just been renovated and there are no blinds or curtains on the front,’so for anyone using the sofa bed, be prepared to be up at 5:30 am! The amenities are great, but the pool is a little cold and the hot tub needs to be topped up.

Easy access to the ski hill

Rooms were modern and Hotel had good Facilities.

The hotel is well located at the bottom of ski slopes. The hotel does not have any cable or staellite TV. The hotel was overcrowded, i didn't use the outdoor spa because about 20 persons and many kids were in it at all time. Breakfast was disapointing. They offer pre-wrap egg sandwich, warm bottle of juice, cereal or french toasts. On arrival, the hotel didn't have my reservation, but lady at front desk was super nice and found me a room at the rate i booked on hotel.com.

Continental breakfast could be expanded - limited options to choose from. We stayed in O’Brien’s north. Great access to the skill hill but the sound transfer with the room next door was awful. Noise could easily pass through the two hotel rooms. Staff were kind and accommodating and the ski hill is great for families. We will be back.

We recently stayed at the O’Brien South Condo. The condo itself was very new and clean. If you are skiing, it is only 50 or so feet from the lifts which is great for coming back to the condo throughout the day to warm up and have lunch. Particularly convenient if you have little ones joining you on the slopes. Despite being clean and new, the condo wasn’t well set up and we felt a little more detail listed in the booking would have been helpful to allow us to prepare for our stay. The condo was advertised as a hotel room but ended up being more like an air bnb. Things we needed that weren’t there included a broom, door mats and dish towels. There was a Keurig coffee maker that worked well but only 3 coffee pods stocked which had us having to ask for more from front desk which is located on the other side of the resort. There was a TV but no channels or streaming services available. We had to go to the front desk for linen for the pull out couch and were given a big garbage bag of linen to then carry all the way back to the place on our own. I’m okay with this sort of task but recognize that some people may not be- so I would suggest calling ahead to ensure you know what you’re booking. All in all we had a great trip, the skiing was fabulous and would stay again. Hoping that these details can be ironed out before we go back!
