Sunset Beach Hotel

Nice stay at Sunset beach hotel 2 weeks before the season starts, so not too crowded. Nice pool, nice beach. Breakfast every day the same, but still a great options to choose from.

All the staff were great! The hotel needs maintenance - shower door handle was dangling and only half screwed on; shower head was clogged and bracket was very loose and tricky to get the head to stay in place; drain was very slow and water flooded the floor; telephone rang and you could hear person calling but they could not hear you and even though I reported it to the front desk it was never fixed; sofa and chairs in the room were worn and stained; the MEMORY FOAM BED that was touted in the advertisement was non existent and instead I got a ROCK-HARD SPRING MATTRESS; room cleaning was minimal until I complained and then was only good for one day; the safe in the room that they advertise costs an additional fee for the staff to program for use (they just let you put in your own code to open). The breakfast buffet is very nice and the food is good. The bar and grill has very good food and prices are very reasonable. The beach is very close, security is good, the pool is shallow but very clean, and the grounds of the hotel are pretty and well maintained. Again, the staff are very nice and helpful and give grade A service on the whole. However, due to the condition of the room and the horrible bed, I do not think I would consider staying here again.

It is very deceiving on the web site about the air conditioning, it leads you to believe that the room comes with air, but when you check in they tell you that you have to pay extra for it.

I really enjoyed Sunset, everyone was very nice and helpful. I had a problem with the television and someone came right away to correct the issue. I will book this hotel again when i return to Gambia next year. I booked a standard room only to realize that it did not include A/C but during the time i was there it rained so the room was not uncomfortable.

We were 3 and had a really good time! The gambia is very good but Sunset Beach Hotel made our stay Excellent. The Pool, the beach, the Service, the Rooms and the friendly waiters made our 5 days holiday so beautiful! We must be back to this Hotel! Its more like a 5 star.

The staff is what made the stay really exceptional. they were always ready and on hand to help and made the stay wonderful!its a lovely hotel and we would certainly go back again.

My stay at the Sunset Beach was very nice - the staff were all very helpful, it was good to have internet access (although it was a bit flakey at times - better later at night). The food was nice, and I enjoyed swimming in the pool. Access to the beach was instant and the gardens were lovely. My only gripe was that I went on a three day river trip only to find on my return that they had transferred me to the hotel next door - but it was fine because the Kombo hotel was four star and again the staff were great. I would stay at the Sunset Beach again because it's location is great.

My stay in Gambia and especially at Sunset Beach Hotel was very relaxing . The hotel was very wonderful and the people very friendly. It is a safe place too which is of utmost importance to me. I liked the different activities organised everyday for both young and old. I would visit again and would recommend to other friends too.

Overall I was very happy with my stay. The staff were friendly the food good and the room while a little dated clean and everything worked. Booking through Hotels. Com means that I would have had to pay extra for air conditioning - which I thought should have been made clear in the advertising. When I did get it on my second night for which I paid full price it was quite inadequate - probably due to the age of the unit and the poor electricity supply.
