Sunset Beach Hotel

Holiday season not yet started so resort was nearly empty and very little to do. Beach looked very dirty with rubbish. You have to pay extra for security safe and also air conditioning or fan. A/C cost 12 euros per night and our room the A/C was very poor or not working. Complained about this but nothing done and still had to pay full amount. Lot of hassle with green taxi drivers and they are very pushy trying to get business

I had a wonderful 10-day stay. A 10-15 minute taxi ride from downtown Banjul and about 20 minutes from the airport. Taxi service was readily available. The property was well-kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The weather was great. I prefer the serenity of the off-season. Access to the cafe, bar, and mini-mart for postcards and stamps was a plus. WIFI worked well in the lobby. I will definitely stay here again.

Very pleasant stay with very helpful staff. The only draw back is the location which is off the main road. Plenty of eating establishments in the locality and it is not far from the Strip. Taxis are available but I was disappointed with their attitude. They tend to charge more than the going rate of other taxis. Perhaps this is a move towards a captive audience policy. Overall a good experience.

The hotel is in pretty gardens and fairly low rise. The pool is nice and clean and the breakfast terrace has a lovely view over the Kotu stream entering the sea. The rooms were comfortable and the fridge useful. The bathrooms were a little old and in less than perfect condition but perfectly adequate. The staff were friendly and the location good. It was nice to be in one of the smaller hotels and if staying on the tourist strip of the coast I think this is a good choice, especially for the money.

we had three weeks in this hotel , we found the staff were very nice, the food needs working on, it was o-k but can improve alot . the area of the hotel its a little out of the way therefore made it a quieter holiday rather than being in the thick of things like in senegambia. the hotel could do with some more mainteance ,like straigtening the lights in the bathrooms & airconditioning units, they are not straight ,& a lick of paint, the gardens were nicely kept. our shower unit we had a problem with the water pressureother than that it was alright, i would go back there again,just one more thing ...when we left to come home the staff on reception could have come over to us out of curtisy & wished us a safe flight home & to thank us for staying there & hope to see us again ect , that would have been nice.

We were very pleasantly surprised by Sunset beach as it was a cheap booking. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The location was beautiful, situated right on the beach and next to Kotu stream. Breakfast was brilliant, all you can eat buffet with cereal, toast, pancakes, eggs, bacon, beans sausages and fresh fruit. The staff were very friendly and called us by name within 24 hours of arriving. Customer service in general was excellent. Evening meals at the restaurant were reasonably priced but the food was not as nice as other restaurants nearby, such as Kombo beach.

This was my second time at Sunset and it was even better than the first time. The best thing about this hotel is the friendly staff who are always willing to help you and always have a friendly smile. The hotel is clean and very well maintained. The pool is small but clean. The bar is a good place to relax with excellent views out to sea, with friendly staff who are always willing to help. The food is good, breakfast was always well stocked and the restaurant serves nice reasonably priced meals throughout the day. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again on my next trip to the Gambia.

Sunset Beach is a lovely hotel to stay in. The rooms are pretty basic but you have everything that you need for your stay including kingsize bed, fridge, ensuite bathroom and AC or fan(at an extra charge). The rooms are cleaned daily and the towels are changed every day for you. The hotel grounds themselves are lovely and the pool is nice and clean. Breakfast is great with plenty of choice and I particularly liked the pancake and egg station where your personal requests are cooked on demand!! The staff are also lovely in all areas of the hotel!! The location is right on the beach which is great and there were hardly any "bumsters" around so no bother at all!! Would definitely go back to this hotel on a future visit!! :)
