Comfy beds Cool location / nice stargazing We were received poorly and they didn’t even have us marked as guests for the evening No wifi in the room Half the hotel is dilapidated and trashed No light on the porch or inside minus the lamp on the nightstand The only outlets that work are in the bathroom There is a desk but no chair, why? The chairs on the balcony and the tiles in the room and bathroom feel crusty and dusty and like they haven’t been cleaned in years. Hair in the drain and soap tray in the shower

"Great food and service"

10.0

We went for breakfast with friends and it was such a peaceful and relaxing experience. The view is spectacular as it's right on the sea of cortez! There is a swim up bar and beautiful gardens. Perfect place for a relaxing meal or stay! Highly recommended :)

"Afternoon Hangout!"

10.0

We visited Las Barriles to celebrate a friends recent birthday. We did not stay at this particular hotel during our visit, however we hung out here every single afternoon. Our daughter had a great time splashing in the pool and we experienced excellent customer service at the bar. Our friends birthday dinner was hosted here, food was great and they were very accommodating with our large group. Definitely would like to stay at this hotel on our next visit out to Baja.

"Coming Back to Rancho Buena Vista after 40 yrs.(1976)"

10.0

We didn't really know what to expect , not finding a lot of information listed for Rancho Buena Vista online. We were pleasantly surprised that it had remained with the character and charm that it had back in the heyday of Southern Baja fishing resorts. The amenities were less as there was not a fleet of fishing boats ( however you can see the whole fleet on land; (relics of the bygone era of the fishing gold mine), and no food facilities at the resort The old restaurant is still there and well worth seeing, with the walls covered with mounted marlin and local fish. The round bar with its' palm frond roof and 360 degree view, and the beautiful swimming pool were still there, The local ex-patriots in the area show up as regular as clockwork at 4pm for a few social drinks before heading home for dinner, so there is never a dull moment there. The resort has 48 rooms (but only a few rented while we were there in February) , palm trees and charming cabanas placed in a well designed lay-out. We were not looking for the High dollar usual Cabo Circus atmosphere as it has become. We loved this retro low key resort. If you are looking for a base of operations to explore the southern tip of Baja, or just kick back and relax, or even rent a fishing boat near by this is your place. Mark Walters , grandson of one of the original owners who manages the resort is a charming friendly host and has a high regard for his staff who keep the place in tip top shape . Some of the original employees and boat pilots still work there. Tony, Octavio, Arturo, Guillermo, and run the bar and reservations and Christina helps with housekeeping. They are the most friendly , helpful , and personable staff you could imagine. It would be a good idea to rent a quad from Quadman in Los Barriles as they are the most common means of transportation in the area. The rooms are clean and basic, and the linens were high quality and beds comfortable. Check out the history of this resort and the writings by Ray Cannon whose book "The Sea of Cortez" is a classic must read.
