The evening receptionist was very friendly and helpful, and on our request upgraded us to a larger room that felt safer and quieter. The cost of the rooms are fair for what you get.

A few things to be aware of when booking here: The 1 bedroom unit that we originally booked was very close to the footpath on Riccarton Road, not ideal on a Saturday night. The kitchen amenities were also extremely limited and the kitchen/living space cramped together in a narrow room. In the larger family room that we were moved to there there was only the bare minimum of kitchen equipment, no stove plate and no microwave safe bowl or dish. The toilet cubicle is so small that you can barely turn around inside it. Also be aware that you will be charged for even the slightest damage - I broke a very thin, cheap drinking glass while putting away the clean dishes (and cut my hand on it) and was charged $5 for it. Not much in the big picture but probably don't worry about doing their dishes!

Space, it's one bedroom rather than a studio.

The shower area, perhaps it's wheelchair friendly, so the water splashes everywhere on the floor.

Our room at Carnmore Hagley Park was clean and spacious. It was close to the town centre - just a short walk across the park. Staff were particularly helpful and plenty of parking onsite if you have a car.
