The Varsity Hotel & Spa

We stay at The Varsity regularly and cannot fault it. The location is perfect, the bar and Roof Terrace are excellent! The nicest thing is the staff! They are all really friendly, helpful and make you feel welcome ! Thank you👍

The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Cambridge and the staff were Excellent.

We were impressed by the professional and friendly manner of the lovely ladies and gents who work at the hotel. It makes it so pleasant when everything has a solution and is no problem. We arrived earlier than check in and left later than check out and we were able to store and access baggage whenever and the car was parked until we left. I also have to mention the lovely, spacious and comfortable rooms and the fact that it’s centrally located next to a beautiful area of Cambridge and all the colleges. Loved it!

Returned to The Varsity again and it didn't disappoint. So easy to pull up outside the front door and hand keys in for valet parking (there is a charge). Quick and pleasant check-in with always friendly staff. King room was a great size for central Cambridge with a large desk, computer monitor, keypad and I Pad. So easy to order juicy burger from room service via the I Pad which came so quickly with loads of mayo and ketchup in china pots. Super breakfast in 6th floor restaurant/bar with gorgeous panoramic views followed by a walk along the river. You cant beat this for an in-town location. Love the modern Euro vibe of the decor too.

Overall very good. Issue with parking. On your website, it stated valet parking. I understood this to mean that we could park to unload bags and valet would drive to onsite car park, where we could have reasonable access to our vehicle, for the duration of our stay, for an acceptable charge. We called shortly before arriving, and was told car park was a mile away, and maybe only sporadic valet service. Being disabled, awaiting my blue badge,this was quite inconvenient for me. I feel this should be made much clearer on your website.

Great hotel and location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Massively overpriced for what it is and what you get. Looking back would have stayed somewhere else for £100 cheaper.

Overall a nice one night stay, we had a small double room which had everything we needed however the decor was a little worn. Huge advantage having the restaurant at the hotel, however unfortunately the rooftop bar was closed due to the cold weather. Would stay again due to the great location. Downside is no parking, car parking is a short distance away so not ideal but the valet parking is spot on.

Nice room with lovely Furniture. Helpful and friendly staff

Lovely hotel but having stayed a number of times before we found the room disappointing and decor a little tired. Bathroom contained a rather strange (and very cheap / poor quality) bedside table against the side shower. No idea for what purpose. Mini bars had been removed apparently on the grounds of sustainability - not sure we can make the connection and would expect a mini bar in this level of hotel. Lacked unique quality and experience of previous stays at this price point and we may look elsewhere next time.

A great stay stay at this excellent hotel. The customer service is absolutely outstanding - every member of staff was a credit to the hotel. The room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent. A top quality hotel. I will be back.
