"Lovely stay and nice a feel to it"

10.0

Stayed here in September with my partner, allowed early check in time at midday which was a nice touch. The town house was very clean and the room was lovely and nicely decorated. Had a boutique feel to it and right in the town centre, we will be back.

"Really nice town house"

Beautiful stay here, lovely spacious family room, very clean, with great toiletries on offer we thought, the host said we could leave the car for as long as we wanted which was great, perfect location right in town for exploring.

It wasn't really clear on how to enter the hotel as there was no one at reception. I had an email to say I would have entrance details 24hrs before this didn't happen and I tried to call the number but it wasn't the correct telephone number so I had to goggle this. Managed to speak to a man who was quite sharp when I asked for the code. He said I would get his after 12noon on day of arrival. Which I did get a text message with this on after 12noon. Quite difficult to understand the door entrance but once I understood this it was easy. Room was cold as heating wasn't on and the windows were quite drafty. Beds were very comfortable . Shower curtain was a bit yellow and if I had of pained full price for the room I would not of need happy but as I had a discount I was ok with this.

"Perfect for what I need"

Stay here regularly for my business trips in the area. Great host very good communication. Location is perfect right in the town centre. The place is spotless with lots of original features being a Victorian house. The room was large and decorated very nicely, with a large bathroom.

"Clean hotel near town centre but largely unstaffed and not particularly welcoming"

4.0

An unusual hotel on the edge of the town centre. No staff are present when you arrive or leave. Instead you have to use a numerical code to get through the front door and another to get into your room. I found both quite difficult but managed. Others struggled and had to phone the proprietor on his mobile. The poor chap seemed to get very flustered by the volume of calls and unfortunately came across as very abrupt. The landline phone number on the booking acceptance email wasn't even right. Other than that, the hotel was clean and tidy. But there was no breakfast so you need to walk into the town centre. This involves crossing a very busy road with no pedestrian crossing to help. Bos café was good and opens at 8 am. The hotel is convenient for the cricket ground but less so for the railway station from where a bus or taxi is required. Crossing back to the station from the bus stop opposite is equally fraught - Taunton really is pedestrian hostile in places. The hotel has no lift.
