Casa Cupula LGBT Luxury Resort

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Cupula and can’t wait to return. Our room was stunning and the shower was 10/10! We were in room 201. Great views all over the property and the amenities were fantastic. We couldn’t fault a thing. All of the staff were so helpful and really went out of their way to provide great service. The tub wasn’t working and the sauna was off. It took about 15 minutes to warm up. Food and drinks were over-priced. The only thing that made my stay memorable was the staff, who were very attentive.

Fantastic service and rooms. We stayed in the Oaxaca suite. Beautiful room and large private deck overlooking the pool and trees.Yes it is a bit of a walk up from the beach or ZR, but wasn't bad for me. Only a $3 cab ride from the bars.

If you like walking it’s not very convenient and their gym could have been cleaner.

Loved the view and the deck area. The neighborhood was a dirty area, garbage all over and dog poop as well. With the exception of two or three the staff was very helpful.

We were in contact with manager Felix who provided shuttle transportation to the resort which we recommend. Boris, the manager of the property provided all of the maps and suggestions for store, markets, restaurants we needed to enjoy our stay. We had breakfast every morning that was delicious and our waiter Lalo was fantastic. The room was spacious clean and private. We look forward to stay there again on our next visit to PV. Plus we always had a rif=de available to wherever we wanted to explore.

The staff was very friendly and communicative leading up and throughout our stay. We arrived late in the evening and Raul made check-in exceedingly smooth; Boris, the reservations manager, was also able to accommodate a late check-out at noon and held our bags for a few hours before our late afternoon departing flight. The room itself (one of the junior suites) was larger than I expected for a boutique hotel and housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping it clean and tidy every day. The private hot tub was a nice touch on the balcony but the view was mostly obstructed by privacy foliage.

We visited while the pool club was undergoing renovation and felt a little deceived that there was no conspicuous notice on their website or during the reservation process to alert us before booking. The other pools on property are VERY small and not the best for relaxing. The pool club did finally open on the fifth day of our stay, but it is also not an area where you can lounge and relax. The pool club was largely unavailable for guests open from 12-8pm with parties starting at 3pm. The parties (Thurs-Sun) are very high energy with club-style music, go-go dancers, and drinking games--not necessarily a bad thing, but you can't really get to know other guests, which was part of the appeal of staying at a gay resort. The hosts of the parties are friendly and the waitstaff are on the ball keeping drinks filled. The parties do tend to attract an older crowd (40+) with some slightly younger guys, and all except Friday are co-ed. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. We only ate there for Sunday drag brunch, which was only ok. There are better options in town. While we enjoyed our room, we felt the rest of the resort was run down and in need of serious maintenance. The gym has basic cardio equipment and weights (dumbbells and machines), albeit old. I would NOT use the "spa". The resort is not the most convenient option for walking to the beach/into town. While it's probably only a 10 min walk to the beach/into town, it's at the top of a hill with a winding gravel road that crosses a busy street. Overall, our stay was pleasant and an acceptable "home base" for a first visit to Puerto Vallarta. Given that room rates were comparable to others, I would have preferred to stay at an oceanfront/newer tower more convenient in town.
