Powfoot Hotel

Such a peaceful location. Great for walking. The hotel itself is in excellent condition. My room had a great sea view and the decor was modern, clean and sympathetic. I had dinner in the hotel and there was a varied choice using locally sourced ingredients. The breakfast was also locally sourced and prepared to order. Just one gripe.. the shower. It took forever for the hot water to come through and the rain head wasn't working. The water pressure was not strong either but i guess that's not an easy thing to solve. Other than that, i enjoyed a restful stop off on my way up the West Coast

Quiet, peaceful place to stay. No passing traffic, just walkers. Overlooks the Solway Firth.

Lovely, comfortable room. Well heated and spotless. If I’m being picky I would have liked a full length mirror. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Was there for a family meal and the food was delicious. Great choice and everything was piping hot.

Lovely local hotel overlooking the Solway Firth. The room was clean and tidy with ample housekeeping. We had a fabulous view of the Firth, sunsets and night skies, with lots of bird activity during the day, a pair of binoculars wouldnt go amiss! The food was absolutely delicious with lots of options to choose from. The staff were friendly and happy to help. Would we stay again? Absolutely!

Our room was spotless. The bathroom had a large shower and was immaculate. For a small friendly hotel it met our expectations and more. The service at both diner and breakfast was london standard and so friendly. The food was delicious and served hot. Good menu selection too. Amazing and very relaxing.

We stayed in a deluxe room which had a 4 poster bed and own balcony with sea view which was beautiful. The food was surprisingly interesting and clean - best breakfast we’ve had in a hotel in UK. Lovely attentive staff and good selection of whisky (which is why we went to Annandale). We ate in the restaurant both nights as there was enough choice to avoid repetition. Spent some time walking along coast and up the river to Brydekirk which was lovely. Town was also surprising with a lovely lunch had at Quarter Cake Cafe.
