Nottoway Plantation Resort

Rain coming down in buckets with no shelter on path to room. Luggage and humans soaking wet when arrived in room. After a short nap, awakened with dead lady bugs on the bed. Upon investigation bugs were coming out of the light fixture. Reported condition to staff, during dinner in the restaurant, advised we could move to another room but no assistance would be provided. We repacked our luggage and moved to room downstairs. We were offered cottage facilities but still raining buckets we opted to stay in main building to avoid soaking. Went shower next morning, had second thoughts, the shower had large areas of black mold, stepping out of shower onto a large loose tile that teetered underfoot, dangerous to say the least. Next morning at check-out, the staff apologized for the conditions we underwent and asked did we enjoy breakfast in the restaurant where the desk left complimentary vouchers for us. I said "no one advised of such vouchers". She replied, "Well I didn't won't to wake you". At 9 am, most travelers would be up and around. The restaurant stopped serving breakfast a 10 am or so, so I didn't understand the " didn't won't to wake you" comment. We like historical hotels and such for lodgings, this is not a Knock on older facilities, this is a statement of POOR MAINTENANCE and thoughtless staff at this beautiful setting of historical significance, which should be better maintained for their guests. Having toured Nottoway several years ago, I was heart-broken.

This is truly a treasure. Our room was great. The breakfast was fit for a king. The tour guide, Donovan, did a great job telling us the history of this beautiful mansion as we were blessed to see some of it treasures!

Nice Clean resort, good for relaxation. No much to do. Pool and Spa was not open when we visited ): Free bike "rental". Wi-Fi was down or poor in the guest room where we stayed at.

Laid back and easy going. Very relaxing. We arrived after dark on a foggy night. The plantation was eerily beautiful. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Mansion Restaurant.

Great time with the family. Very nice accommodations and staff. The tour was really interesting and well worth it. The restaurant on site was worth the visit as well. I hope to get to go back.

Beautiful property. Great food and service at the restaurant. We were there for the Christmas markets.

We enjoyed our stay in the Garden House! Cool Balcony to see the grounds! Will definitely return!!

It’s a great place! You can tour the plantation and the rooms are in separate buildings so it’s very private. My room had its own balcony and we were able to watch a wedding take place on the grounds.

Nice folks somewhat shabby furnishings can never see the river!!
