Hotel Casa Azcona

This was a stopover for us, to regroup on a long trip and make our forward travel bookings. We wanted someplace comfortable, not necessarily near the sights of Pamplona. In this regard the hotel was great. Very simple but comfortable. We loved the patio restaurant attached to the hotel which seemed to attract lots of locals. What we didn't appreciate was the lack of internet, which we desperately needed to accomplish what we had to. The hotel seemed somewhat unsympathetic as "we weren't paying for it". If you don't need internet than this is a nice little local place to stop, and friendly. However if you need internet, avoid, as this seemed to be a common occurence.

This is a small basic hotel about two miles outside the Pamplona, Spain, city center. The room was basic but clean. We loved the little square filled with table from the hotel's restaurant which was mostly populated by locals. The food was good, vibe great, service friendly. What we didn't like: This was to be a relaxing stop on our two week trip where we rested, my husband caught up with some business mail, and I booked hotels for our ongoing trip. The hotel advertises free internet but we spent most of our day trying to stay on, and then getting kicked off. In short, we accomplished nothing. Normally this might not have been a big deal but in this case it was. The attidude was indifference: you're not having to pay for internet so why are you griping? Don't advertise internet if your service is this bad.

The hotel is in a good location, breakfast was good, you have to remind the staff to refill juice, fruits, etc they are very helpful and friendly

We stopped overnight on our way to The Costa Blanca and found the staff and the hotel very friendly. The bar furniture is functional but the food & drink are just what you need on a budget stopover. The reception even arranged for us to have the same room for the return journey. It's a popular bar amongst the local population especially on a Sunday evening. Almost certain to use this hotel as a stopover on the way south in the future.

We chose Casa Azcona at random for our trip to the Costa Blanca and were pleasantly surprised with the reception we received from all the staff. This hotel does not get a lot of non Spanish speaking customers but every effort was made to make us welcome. So much so that we booked again for the homeward journey. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was not open in the evening. The Hotel bar also functions as a local bar for the population. The bar snack menu is very good and well worth trying something you've not tried before. The rooms are large and very quiet, no chance of getting disturbed in a nights sleep. There is an underground car park on site as there are few spaces available in the street. The best part is the staff and the inexpensive catering It's not '5 Star' but you're not paying '5Star ' prices but what you get is well worth the money. It appears as a rustic rural hotel but has a very comfortable feeling.

Large comfortable bedroom. comfortable hotel. No view because windows faced onto four other windows in a square. So dark, but still acceptable because the room was so good.

Not knowing anything about Pamplona we decide this would be a easy access location from which to explore. We hit the Jackpot ! Wonderful Hotel in perfect location, friendly helpful staff and excellent bar and restaurant. Within a few minutes of our arrival we were enjoying Tapas and cold drinks in the Village Square. Azcona is the center of activity in this lovely laid back suburb. Easy FREE parking in the square, great local vibe, just perfect after a long day's drive. We will return. Have to say after 2 weeks on the road this is head and shoulders above anything we have so far encountered. The quality of this place for the prices charged is an example to ALL European Hotels. Spacious and clean rooms, very friendly service, good breakfast. The atmosphere and the food at the restaurant is also fantastic. Minutes away from Pamplona, close to the motorway and in the middle of a very nice village. Highly recommended.

Stayed here after walking from Larosonana - it was a very nice hotel, comfortable room, great shower and free wifi. Had dinner in the cafe and it was nice - pasta and home made hamburger. Location is off the Camino Route and away from Cizur Minor where the Albergues are located and where other pilgrims were staying so not opportunities to socialize.

Just one night, I wanted a hotel near the A12 for onward travel. A village setting on edge of Pamplona, it was blissfully quiet with a large, pleasant terrace. It would be great for enjoying the amazing scenery in the area. Room was fine, bed comfortable and bathroom high standard. I ticked 3 star for hotel service although I didn't use bar or restaurant - leaving blank is not an option... Use satnav to find it though as A12 not signposted until just before turning for hotel.
