Hotel Casa Azcona

We detoured when we got to Cizur Menor and headed a couple kilometers to Cizur Mayor. The front desk staff were very nice and extremely helpful. There was a festival going on in town, and they gave us the festival booklet. The rooms were quiet and clean (they were literally putting a fresh coat of paint in our hallway that day). There is also a lovely living room, with a computer that is free to use. Off the living room is a large deck from which we were able to see all the goings-on of the festival before we joined in. The next morning the breakfast was plentiful. And the bartender in the bar was very helpful in explaining to us (and giving us a map for) how to get back on the Camino. It wasn't hard at all to do so.

While hiking the Camino we chose to stay in this hotel. The staff was helpful. The first room they gave us had a broken toilet so they moved us to a new room that was perfect. We had breakfast in the bar. It was very busy as many locals come here as well. The coffee was good and the breakfast was decent. We would stay here again.

Walking the Camino in Spain is not only strenuous, however choosing accommodation in advance can be a lucky dip. I decided not to stay in the large town of Pamplona but wanted some much needed luxury close by. The hotel is located a 10 minute walk from the Camino path at Cizur Manor where there is virtually no accommodation. I arrived on the door step of Hotel Casa Azcona totally exhausted after walking from Zubiri about 25km away. I thought the tariff was a bit on the high side for a struggling Aussie Pilgrim. However with one of the really greatest breakfasts part of the deal, I signed up. The hotel is extremely modern and rooms spacious with a large bathroom. It was like a Sheraton style hotel. I also received a small discount as I looked a total wreck and also it's now in the October shoulder season. Dinner was just right, meals from 8euro, house wine in the courtyards after sunset. The hotel has free wi fi with a very fast service which enabled me to Skype my wife back in Brisbane. Staff at reception and breakfast staff were extremely polite and very helpful, then even recommended a hotel on my next stop and negotiated a special all inclusive rate.

I stayed here with my two grandchildren on our journey along the Road to Santiago. The room was clean and spacious. The staff friendly and helpful. For an extra 6 euros a night were were allowed to leave our car at the hotel in an underground parking space while we walked for a week on the Way to Santiago. The food in the restaurant was good. The staff welcomed us back following our walk and everything was safe and sound for our return to France. I'd stay there again. Also, easy and not expensive to get a taxi back to the hotel from the bus station when we returned to Pamplona from walking. The Chemin du Santiago was a short walk from the hotel and because it was raining a very kind women picked us up and drove us over the to start of our walk. Very nice indeed.

Stayed here while walking the Camino de Santiago de Compostels. It is a little off the Camino but it is easy to get back on the route. It is a very modern hotel with very spacious and well equipped rooms. I did eat here but (with poor Spanish) picked a night which was a fiesta and paid for a larger meal than I wanted. Not a complaint and my own fault. Very helpful staff.
