Nice hotel at the lake in the jungle. All was very well arranged and very nice staff. The restaurant is also a big plus.

Bonito hotel

This eco-friendly hotel is located on Lagoon Petenchel and surrounded by beautiful rain forest. It’s about one hour away from Tikal Mayan ruins and about 20 minutes away from Flores island. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We recommend staying at the Hotel Villa Maya.

Friendly staff. Clean, spacious rooms. Ours had a shower open to the outdoors, which I wasn’t sure I would like, but it was awesome. No bugs! Beds were pretty hard though. Nice restaurant with friendly waitstaff and good food. Nice breakfast buffet! They had hotel umbrellas for is to use when it was raining one day. Will stay again.

The staff here were great, however the rooms could use some maintenance and upgrades. The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful arranging shuttles to Flores and the airport. Our room was the last building so took a few minutes to find our door. The room itself needed some work. The biggest issue was the AC unit that unfortunately loudly clanked when turned on. The choice was either a hot, stuffy room or a loud AC unit. Neither great for sleep. The bed was very firm, maybe a step up from the floor, and added to sleep difficulties. We had an early flight so not getting quality sleep was frustrating. Again, the staff were excellent, I would just suggest upgrading the mattresses and doing some maintenance work on the AC unit.

We totally love this place! Staff is super friendly, check in was super quick and the food was amazing. This area is very secluded and quiet. No TVs in room which helped us connect with each other. The only issue we had is that the blankets smelled like mold but they changed them immediately once we asked. We recommend it!
