"¡Superó mis expectativas!"

10.0

¡Muchas gracias!

¡Todo perfecto!

"Enjoyable resort-style accommodation"

8.0

This accommodation felt like a traditional Japanese style resort. We loved how big the whole place was and there were outdoor spaces to explore. A warm cute coat, on top of the usual yukata, was provided so we could go out into the cold to the restaurants and onsens. The main highlight was being able to experience staying in a traditional Japanese house with dark wood and tatami. Even the layout of the space was traditional and gave us a taste of Japanese living in the older days. Since this place is run by the same company operating Dormy Inns, there were the standard supper ramens, yakults and popsicles. There were also free baked sweet potatoes at 6pm and tasty oden at 7pm. It was a nice place to relax and just enjoy the facilities within the accommodation - we felt no need to get out after checking in. After breakfast, we tried out some of the traditional games and took a short walk before checking out. Shuttle bus was available at frequent intervals from Ito Kogen station. We found the dinner quite value-for-money. The dinner was delicious with good portion size - got to try seafood shabu shabu for the first time.

We had a private onsen tub in our room, however the water wasn't very clean and I could see many small specks of dust or whatever that was in the water. By comparison, the water in the private onsens for public use were cleaner. Not sure if this was because the water was already like this before we use it or if it was because we couldn't drain out the water and could only let the water run continuously and hence re-used the water. To be clear, we showered every time before entering the tub. Anyway, it was a pity as we really liked everything else.

"Mind the Shuttle"

9.0

The staff onsite were amazing. The facilities and food incredible. We only stayed 1 day, which didn't feel long enough. Two days would have been perfect. Such a serene and beautiful space. Though not the easiest to get to, definitely worth the day trip from Tokyo.

We only had one issue, and that was the shuttle bus driver from the train station. The fact that a free shuttle is offered is great, but the shuttle bus driver was rude and didn't want to take us. I'm not sure if it's because we were visiting from out of the country, or what, but he didn't want to have anything to do with us. He actually told us he wasn't our driver and directed us to get on a completely different shuttle, even though we called out that the resort name was on the side of his shuttle. We lost almost an hour at the resort because of him. Precious time we can't ever get back. The next day, when we had to return to the train station, we had the same rude driver. He helped all other guests with their bags except completely ignored us. It was a pretty sad blemish on an otherwise wonderful experience.

"Loved it, would happily go again, private baths were a highlight"

9.0

Very comfortable and great for first-time ryokan-goers. Free oden and ramen in the evening and night were much appreciated, and the private baths were wonderful. Appreciated the wide range of sizes for the included pajamas, too.

Only complaint is that I wish we'd been able to go to the restaurants; we only booked for one night and all the reservations were taken by the time we checked in.
