Antico Casale Russo

Stayed for a week in June and really enjoyed ourselves. Simply, but elegantly furnished with fantastic views over the bay. Friendly, helpful staff. Well away from the traffic chaos and noise of Sorrento, but easy access by car to the town and the "Amalfi Run" "Ristorante Zio Sam" is just around the corner and highly recommended!

Great location especially when we found the local bus services gets you into and back from Piano very quickly. Receptionists lack of English can be a problem but we managed and they even rustled up 2 local restaurant owners to come and pick us up for lovely evening meals.

My Partner & I stayed for 1 week in the lead up to Easter. Upon arrival as the Casale Russo we were stunned at the location, and views of the bay and Sorrento. We walked into Sorrento the following day which took about 1 hour 20 minutes. We got taxi's to and from the town although this could have worked out very expensive being up to €30 a time or more. Luckily, we found a taxi driver (Alberto - Golden Moon taxi's) who gave us cheaper rates €25 each way. I passed on Alberto's card to the hotel, so may be worth getting his details in order to save some money on taxi's. Overall, we were very impressed with this hotel, we had a very spacious room on the 2nd floor. Beautiful décor, very elegant and grand. Upon arrival we were greeted by a gentleman who was very helpful although his English was not very good (but then our Italian was not good either!). We got by, and all staff were most helpful, and pleasant. The continental breakfast was one of the best I have ever had, with a great selection - this is not to be missed. A few issues with our room; once the toilet flushed, the water did not stop running, so it sounded like you had a water fountain running through the night. Bathroom was large but in comparison to the room the shower was very cramped and small, with no room to move, and the shower controls very confusing. It took us a few days to master this. The only bin was in the bathroom. It may also be worth having a bin in the room somewhere for convenience. We got the air con on but it just did not work, luckily it wasn't too hot at this time and was pleasant enough to have the balcony doors open at night. Lastly, the mini bar is not free (you do have to pay at the end of your stay) although it was nice to have some cold drinks available for you. The hotel states that you cannot bring in food to your room, we appreciate the rules. However, as they only did a continental breakfast it may not always be convenient to get out of an evening, so would have been good to have got a takeaway Pizza... but there is Zio Sam's just down the road, within 2 minutes walking distance - nice good. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Very very good.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful surrounding. It feels like staying in a little castle. I read some complains from other guest that the staff don't spreak English. I want to say that this is absolutely not true. Yes, their English is not great, but they try their best. The staff is very friendly. However there are a few improvements I would like to recommand to the hotel: Breakfast For a hotel that want to appear luxurious the breakfast is very poor. There is no diversity, no fresh fruit. The breakfast that Anitco Casale Russo serves is what you would expect from a cheap and simpel hotel. Shower We had the junior suite, a beautiful room ofcourse. However the shower was leaking so the floor was soon a big pool. The water coming out of the shower was to hot and there was no way to cool it. That's very unpleasant. Communcation There are often celebrations of weddings in the hotel. We can imagine that, because it's a romantic place. However there was no information giving to us that there was going to be a party with loud music untill midnite. I think it's unacceptable that you don't inform your guests about these things. Hygiene The aircondition was not clean, I would say dirty. Fortunately we didn't had to use it. Also they don't clean the floor under the bed. I recomand the hotel to take a little bit more effort in cleaning the room.

Perched high on a hill overlooking the Bay of Naples and Sorrento is a tiny gem of a hotel. Antico Casale Russo is only seven rooms, but they are all beautiful, with high vaulted ceilings, regal furniture and beautiful decor. The extensive grounds are very well maintained, and the view from most rooms is breathtaking. The host, Bruno, was most welcoming and helpful with restaurant suggestions and directions. The only drawbacks to the place were the rather meager breakfast, and the fact that the shower controls were difficult to use with soapy hands.

We stayed here only one night (in transit from Capri to Paris) but I wish we had been able to stay here many more. The hotel is gorgeous, albeit in a seemingly odd location. Gorgeous outdoor areas to sit and relax in and our room was pristine, as was the rest of the hotel itself. And the main staff member we dealt with (Vanna) was just an incredibly sweet and friendly person. Highly recommend.

Nice place. Big room. Lots of jets in shower, but shower was very small. Don't drop any soap or your butt may pop open the door. For such a nice looking place, breakfast was very unimpressive. No cereal, only an apple for fruit. no biscuits and definitely no eggs.

Two couples stayed here for 4 nights in July 2014. Free breakfast, excellent staff. Located up on a hill above Piano de Sorrento this small hotel (actually an old farm) offers an excellent view of the Gulf of Naples and beautiful sunsets. Bruno offered several excellent ideas for day trips and local restaurants (Tio Sam) just a couple minute walk from the hotel.

Perfect hotel for exploring the Amalfi Coast / the Sorrento peninsula by car.The setting is beautiful with stunning views over the Bay of Naples and mountains. The staff are, despite not speaking much English, exceptionally friendly and helpful; we were given ice creams to take part in a family celebration. There is one restaurant with delicious food (Zio Sam) within walking distance. Both Sorrento & Positano are 15min drive away. Overall: excellent and we would happily stay here again!

this hotel is truly a hidden gem! its well run, clean and very beautiful! however, you will need a very good map or sat nav to find it for the first time! the rooms are very comfortable indeed, i wanted to bring the 6 foot wide bed home! just up the lane there is a restaurant called zio sams. this is also the best we found! its a five minute walk from the hotel and has superb food at very reasonable prices. main courses with drinks were under 30 euro's. the staff are very friendly too! the drive into sorrento from the hotel takes about 20 minutes and is 5 km away. you need a car as the taxi fare is 32 euro's each way! parking in sorrento is a nightmare, so use the multi storey or the underground. they are both 2 euro's an hour, but worth it for the safety. if you venture of the main roads, you will find yourself in some very undesirable areas, and these are not safe. there are bandits everywhere along this coast line and they target tourists cars. these are easy to pick out as they are the only clean undented ones! so beware! . once back at the hotel, relax on the front terrace overlooking the bay. breakfast at the hotel is adequate, there is nothing hot on the menu, but there is plenty to fill up on before you start your day! croisants, bread, honey, jams, pastries, yogurts and coffee. there is tea and coffe making in the rooms and you can just ask for fresh milk. there is also a tv in each room, but no english channels.
