Blue River Resort & Hot Springs

Nice landscaping and friendly staff. Very secluded and far from everything (food, activities, etc.). Wifi only available in public locations and not very strong.

We were so impressed with this facility from the moment we arrived. The check in staff was very kind, informative and speedy. Our cabin was clean, quaint and well stocked with towels. We couldn’t believe how beautiful and we’ll kept the grounds are. The natural setting makes you feel like your immersed in nature while still enjoying the benefits of discreet signage giving info on the flora and fauna. We got to see the sloth on our first day which was amazing! The hot pools and steam room were so cool and my kids loved the slide into the cold pool. The wait staff was friendly and the food and drinks were good. Even though it poured the whole day we were supposed to take our excursions, we still had an amazing time. I would highly suggest this resort if you want a real taste of the rain forest with safe and clean accommodations. 5 stars all around.

The grounds and facilities are very impressive indeed in this restful resort and the foothills of Rincon de la Vieja. Unpaved road is long but passable, beware googlemaps sends you 7 km further down the road than the actual location, which is immediately left after the bridge over the Blue River (Rio Azul). Of the hot spring facilities, the (warm!) mud is very special. The restaurant serves good steaks but both restaurant and accommodation lack the finesse of Borinquen nearby.

It was absolutely amazing. We loved it from check in to check out. I, who have never had a nap, fell asleep in the afternoon in the hammock on the deck. I have never been so relaxed. The hot springs and we’re so relaxing and peaceful. The botanical garden was so tranquil. The food and service at the restaurant was prime. We went for a walk one afternoon and one of the dogs followed us, he was making sure we were okay. He kept checking to make sure we were coming. So adorable. He brought us all the way back to our cabin. We did the hike to the Grande Falls, our guide, Kevin, was very knowledgeable and caring, we ended up being the only people at the falls, where we swam for about 30 minutes. Amazing.

What a gorgeous place! Way up in the mountains an hour from the paved road. The thermal springs are fantastic, and the room was awesome. The "gardens" are almost big enough to get lost in, with twisty paths through beautiful flowers and trees. LOTS of birds including hummingbirds, and a butterfly house as well. Lots to do, warm and regular pools, would be fun for families Only negative was the food ... not awful, but not the standard I would expect for a resort like this. (Is this REALLY orange juice? Coffee not too good. Food ok, prices not horrible.) Cabanas were super nice, hammock on porch. Very relaxing place to spoil yourself and enjoy nature.

Nice property but very far from any activities around the volcano, you are kinda trapped into the resort expensive food and activites, I highly recommend going to playa flamingo, playa conchal or monteverde!

Beautiful grounds, very clean and comfortable, and very helpful and accommodating staff.

The grounds were absolutely beautiful. The rooms are large and spacious. We enjoyed the hot pools and mud baths even in the rain clouds.
