Blue River Resort & Hot Springs

This place was Okay, Rooms were old but big and comfortable, good A/C. Food at the restaurant was a 6/10, Not bad just not that great. Some really impressive gardens with a foot path all over and nice pools. The hot thermal pools are hot, heated by the volcanic activity - so that means they have a bit of an eggy smell, as do most natural hot springs. Our stay was a bit disappointing, we came to enjoy the 'Blue River' and with a combination of heavy rains and small volcanic eruption the week before made for a silt filled river that wasn't Blue. Mother nature is going to do what it wants. Each day we asked if any river activities would be open and the front desk person told us that he would let us know later when we were at dinner, this never happened. We ended up driving elsewhere to do activities. All in all it was oaky but I don't see us coming back.

The gardens are amazing. The hot springs and natural sauna amazing! Grounds are beautiful.

Our stay far exceeded our expectations! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Activities on site were great and the spa is a must. Deep tissue and foot reflexology was amazing. Everything from butterfly garden to volcanic mud baths were great. We spent plenty of time in the thermal pools and look forward to returning for a longer stay soon!

Property is beautiful! So relaxing with all the hot springs to sit in. The staff is great, they go out of there way to help & make your stay more enjoyable . The restaurant is added bonus with great food and prices. Had a wonderful time !

For a resort the food is extremely disappointing, extremely basic food. The resort is mostly use for stop over for tour groups which tend to be stay for the day and sometime one or two nights. So if there a group you will have the option of having a buffet but if no group no buffet. We book our stay one year in advance and management send us an email five days prior to our arrival that they had a booking issue on our last day and they wanted us to move to another place. The truth was that they were short of a room for the tour group that was coming in that day. SO BE AWARE THAT BOOKING WITH THEM EVEN A YEAR IN ADVANCE DOESN'T MEAN YOU WILL HAVE YOUR ROOM. We have stayed at many resort before and I consider this resort with very basic facilities. Also the resort is in the rain forest zone so expect that it's going to be cloudy most of the time, of course that not the resort fault. The good thing about the resort is the cabin are very nice and comfortable and the thermal pools and bud bath are fun to do for a day or two. Also the resort is 45 minutes from anything so you are at their mercy for food and drink which they charge a lot for what you get.

The staff and facilities are great. Wonderful setup. Hot springs were relaxing. Only complaint is that the rooms have been smoked in. Wish there were some true non smoking rooms.

Was way out in the middle of nowhere Hard to get to. The roads are terrible. Front desk staff is not that helpful. Restaurant and facilities staff is great. There is no WiFi in the rooms or a lan line telephone. The rooms are nice and the place is nice inside the resort, but there is nobody on property after 9PM.

A little piece of heaven. Great spot to destress and just sit back for a few days. They have 1 restaurant and its excellent. The waiters are super. Nice pathways to roam the property.
