Pillows could have been a bit better

In a great location by the beach and accessible for visiting the Bay of Islands and the north of the island. However that was the biggest positive of the hotel. The moment we arrived we witnessed how tired and run down the hotel is. Our beachfront room was dirty and lacked any comforts. The carpets were badly stained, the bottom of the shower was totally unclean as was the outside area. The settee was old and very uncomfortable. Outside was a black plastic table and two chairs that I asked to be cleaned as we couldn’t use it. The bed was relatively comfortable but because of the lack of care the room felt unenticing. We registered a complaint with the reception but NO action or follow up happened. No one spoke to us about our concerns which was really poor but spoke volumes about the lack of management in the hotel. There was no siting of anyone I’m a management capacity. When we asked the next day if there was any response to our complaint, the receptionist said no and rudely suggested we might change our minds. This so called beach resort had only four tired sun loungers by the pool for all the guests although we wouldn’t have wanted to use them. There were no loungers on any patio so nowhere to relax outside the room. There’s a laundry but no one used the washing machines as they were disgusting. No gym available either. Really wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Rooms were private. Great space. It had air con.

A bit of wear and tear that needed tending to - kitchenette draws didn't shut properly. Tap in kitchenette was wobbly. Floor tile damaged.
