Days Inn by Wyndham Kendal Killington Lake

First let me say I was a bit unsure because it was on a motorway service station, but from stepping through that door I could not be so wrong. You was met by the receptionist to book in, we forgot to ask for a lake view but that was no problem 2 minutes later we had a lake view, our first room was OK but someone had been smoking so it was not nice that was not a problem we got move straight away to a better bigger room that smelt a lot better, they could not be more helpful and sorry it had happen. From the reception to thd cleaner you could not say a bad word about them the rooms was spot on you could not find any dust or dirty bathroom, wanted more towels or extra bedding no problems we will definitely be going back there we will be trying other day inns all round the country if they are like this one we are in for a good stay 10/10

On reading some reviews before booking, it left me hesitant, but was looking for something that didn't break the bank, so went ahead and booked, to my suprise on checking in, I was welcomed by Anita on reception, such a lovely sweet lady, couldn't of asked for more, on entering the room, it was absolutely spotless, and that's down to lilly and Katie, they were lovely girls, very pleasant and accommodating, most certainly will be returning, seeing is believing, as the reviews had made me dubious, I would like to give a massive thankyou to Anita, lilly and Katie for making my stay pleasurable, not to mention the views!! Very old and whithering facilities. All the items in the room including walls needs repair and upwork. The hotel has good location and since its in a service, it had good amount of parking space. There is a WHSmith and McDonalds in the service.

Convenient stop off en route. Said it had a restaurant but that turned out to be macdonalds at the m6 services. Bed was clean and comfy but hotel is tired. Could use a little TLC

Awful smelly room..like a rancid mop had been left there..bed was horrendously hard..even tho we took our own topper..I could go on but I won't.we left at 9 with our luggage ..I passed the card in ..receptionist didn't even ask WHY...maybe she knew WHY!!!..she knew we were staying overnight as we spoke about the leaflet for breaky in the morning..Mmmmm..we learn by our experience don't we..days inn.?.thumbs down!!!

Beautiful lake view

From the outside looking in, I've always thought that this little hotel looked ideal as a stop off point between places on our travels, from outside looked smart and well kept, and mostly was about the same price as their competition (Blue brand, Purple brand - I won't name drop here, it's not fair). Reception was nice and tidy, receptionist absolutely lovely and everything in the halls looked lovely so once checked in we went off to our room. In the words of Paul and the Late Barry Chuckle - "Oh dear... Oh dear, oh dear!". Someone at some time thought it a good idea to paint all the tiles in the bathroom. Over time this has lead to the bathroom having a severe case of dandruff, and I mean wow... Flaky paint absolutely everywhere and it looked awful. On to the bedroom, broken power sockets with pins snapped off in them, filthy light switches, water marks/stains on the wall above the headboard, headboard had clearly been painted white from wood at some point and had been scratched so looked awful, damp on the bedroom side of the bathroom wall, the list is quite comprehensive. I'm no snob, and I've stayed in some questionable places in my time - but for the price (£67 for one night, no breakfast)we could have stayed somewhere far better looked after. I didn't go to the receptionist as she had her hands full with a site wide power cut which I accept was coincidence, and couldn't raise it next morning at check out as reception was locked. Horrific is absolutely the wrong word.

All generally good except very slippery bath when using the shower dangerous for an older person such as myself.
