Hotel 1001 Malam

Lovely place & friendly staff. Great breakfast!

This little budget hotel provides, breakfast, tour bookings (as well as for the Ramanaya ballet) and airport transfer services. It is near other tour agencies, train station, the main shopping strip, restaurants and pubs and plenty of becak around. Convenient, comfortable, cosy. You can hear planes, announcements and train horns as the station is near by. It feels like a village than a hotel with wooden furnishing which is old and feels run-down. The service is great, friendly, i like it. Highly recommend it.

Liked the location, simple but uniquely painted rooms, and price but it's directly under the airport flight path and close to the train station, so kind of noisy. Breakfast was just ok and only had instant coffee. Instant creamer ran out and was never replaced during my remaining 2 days.

Very nice grounds and ambiance. Pretty gardens, koi pond and a nice second floor rooftop eating area. I got off the train and within ten minutes had walked to the hotel, checked in and was taking a shower. Comfortable bed and good bathroom. Good A/C. The staff is helpful and friendly. There is free tea and coffee available all the time. There was no TV in the room or any chairs. There is a large construction project next door and mosques nearby so count on an early wakeup. The hotel has a free left luggage locker and also a travel agency which you may want to comparison shop a bit before using. The wifi is good in common areas but not in the rooms. Overall a little bit overpriced especially considering lack of TV but a good and comfortable hotel.

Close to Yogya station. Like to stay across the alley but they were full. Hotel 1001 Malam is pleasant enough, quite, simple, basic, nice garden and pond. Friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of mozzies. Simple breakfast provided but the nasi lady in the alley does a cracking assortment of things to have on rice in a banana leaf either as breakfast or as a good takeaway for the train etc.

It was my first visit to Yogyakarta and when I return I will definately be staying at 1001 Malam Hotel as it exceeded my expectations as far as location and willingness from Hotel staff to ensure my visit was went as smoothlyu as possible.....all staff were extremely helpful and Mamad was my "go to man" in rergards to information about the area!!

The environment of the hotel very nice with trees and pool at the centre. There are a small public corner for self making coffee/tea as well. The staff are nice too. But the room not very clean with the bedsheets seems unchanged & old. My hubby was bite by some insects at night caused his leg swelled & pain. Think it should be some bed bugs on the dirty bedsheets. And they never clean our room at all within our stays. The dustbin is putting outside and never be clean even the rubbish is full and out of the dustbin.

Excellent place to stay for the price. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The neighborhood was friendly and catered to foreigners. I would stay here again!

The staff were very helpful. The green courtyard provides an oasis from the busy streets of Yogyakarta. The lane way gives you a wonderful example of locals living their lives and provides a buffer from the downtown streets.

Lovely staff, I really enjoyed the banana pancake for breakfast, the bathroom was clean and the shower refreshing, the room was really sweet (great combination of modern and 'Indonesian getaway'). The construction site nearby was sometimes annoying but that wasn't a problem at night thankfully. Room for price, you could probably find better but with a 5min walk from Malioboro and the train station, it makes life easier - great access to the city. A good place for solo getaways, couples and small groups of friends as a chilled place to stay.
