MainStay Suites Kew

The location was handy, being central to Kew and walking distance from woolies.

The apartment was filthy, no vacuuming had been done behind or around furniture. The mattresses were soft and springy, the pillows were so thin and old you needed to stack two to achieve a normal amount of support. The couch cushions were dirty and thin. The couch was stained. Black mold throughout the bathroom. No ceiling fans or air conditioning in the bedrooms, and the cold air from the split system in lounge room didn’t flow through to the bedrooms making them stifling hot. There were pedestal fans provided in the wardrobes, however they also were filthy. The common entrance and stairwell stunk. There was inadequate drainage of the tiled outside area, making it slippery and dangerous to walk from the accomodation to the carpark/office/road in Melbourne’s ever-inclement weather. We have stayed at the property multiple times of a period of ten years, under previous management. The current price does not reflect the standard of the accomodation.

Bookings made a serious mistake in our booking when they replied that Aligned had elevators necessary for us as we cannot use stairs. Our 1 bedroom apartment was on first floor. Aligned manager, Lisa, upgraded us to ground floor 2 bedroom units at no extra cost and staff were excellent with luggage help.

The room was unexpectedly upgraded. It was spotlessly clean, with all expected amenities. The bed was comfortable, the shower pressure great, with very hot water available. We did not stay long but would have enjoyed being there as a whole family with plenty of room. Car parking was available and secure.

It was really good. The information document that was said to be attached when we arrived was not and we oddly received it the day we left.

Apartment is a little “tired” Some crumbs on kitchen floor!

The location was ideal for our needs being close to family and the shops. Easy to get to and from when driving in Melbourne and requiring transport with a car.

Explanation that the room was still to be renovated and seemed dated. The whole complex is under renovation and there were facilities that we were not able to use.

Bedside light (bathroom side) sometimes difficult to switch on due to some earlier damage. Dripping bathroom tap(s). Stairs to basement. Driveway access and exit - why not use remotes as part of the unit keys ?
