"Paradise"

10.0

We booked a premium one bedroom villa so were astonished to find we'd been given a 3 bedroom apartment complete with sea view, hot tub on the balcony, luxury fully equipped kitchen, 4 poster bed and walk in wardrobe ! We've travelled all over the world but this was one of the best apartments we've been lucky enough to enjoy. The resort was pretty quiet during our visit in November so absolutely no problem with noisy children in the pool etc mentioned by other reviewers. Beach was fantastic and the staff very attentive. We made good use of the free sunbeds, kayaks and paddle boards. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times which was very nice but the resort is a short walk from Speightstown which offers plenty of fantastic food & drink options. If we visit Barbados again (outside school holidays), Saint Peters Bay Resort will be #1 on our list.

"Great family friendly resort!"

10.0

This resort is brilliant for families as the apartments are large with great facilities. The swimming pool and beach were perfect with the kids. The on site restaurant was some of the best food we had on the island. The best thing overall were the attentive staff - nothing was too much to ask. X

"SUCH AN EXPENSIVE FAIL, IN SUCH A BEAUTIFUL LOCATION, BE WARNED, GO ELSEWHERE, I WOULD NOT RETURN TO THIS RESORT."

4.0

Say it like it is, I seem to have trouble with Trip Advisor publishing some of my reviews, still if you don't succeed at first eh! Anyway 2nd time of trying, makes you wonder who does not like what being said about where. What makes a good review keeps popping up, I thought I had given an honest good review last time I tried to post this, the good the bad and the ugly, well ok, it did say just ok, but I'll stick to ugly, as that is how I found certain aspects of the service and the people who dealt out that service. Getting back to St. Peters Bay resort, I stand by my title. To those of you considering going to this "resort" please read on, I'll make this brief it will probably stand more chance of getting online. We have been to Barbados numerous times, stayed in some lovely Hotels, unfortunately this is in a different class, for all the wrong reasons. The place does not really fall into the category of Hotel, where one standard applies to all people staying in the Hotel. I say that because there are roughly half of the apartments that are owned, the other half being let out as a Hotel would let out normal rooms to guests. After being woken up by the aforementioned owners children, (adolescent age children/teenagers, and extremely rude at that) at 11.00pm at night playing volleyball outside of our room, on three occasions, I decided to take it up with the management, as the response I got from one of the owners was not worthy of noting, you can see where the children got their bad manners from. The Pool states that it closes at 18.00hrs to guests, sadly that is not the case for "owners" they apparently can use it whenever they so choose, as there is nothing in their contracts to the contrary. I found this out after the concierge told me that the 18.00hr rule applied to all, the security were clueless, the operations manager thought is was 23.00hrs, all in all a farce really. I know I am getting on it years (64) but to find that you have been sold a holiday which operates a two tier system is sad, the owners (not all but one ignorant family in particular, the C's) appeared to run carte blanche around the resort, as if they owned it, which sadly they did in part, regardless of anyone else's enjoyment that they might be ruining. The Operations Manager should get special mention, again for all the wrong reasons, unfortunately she was powerless to do anything to remedy the problems. Especially being threatened by one of the owners should I ever speak to any of their offspring again, fear not in true British spirit I defended my corner, only because he was of Maple Leaf extraction and particularly rude, he was asking, so he got, you reap what you sew, etc, etc. Anyway, what else do you need to know. Rooms were delightful, pool adequate, but obviously noisy, beach very nice, food in restaurant albeit small was fine, the staff in general were really, really nice, especially the ones in the restaurant who well knew the situation, as it had been going on for some years, how bad and sad is that. I do love Barbados, the place, the locals, I cannot fault it or them, but this place deserves the review I am leaving. It is a long way to travel, it is expensive and one expects the best, but you are not going to get it here. I fully expect the generic response from the resort in reply, but hey ho as said do look at the other Hotels there are far better, especially the CRC or FRP two name but two. I have never written anything but the truth in any of my reviews, unlike some that I have read, which I find hard to believe. I do not have an ulterior motive here, I just don't want anyone else spending the sort of money that I did and being disappointed at the end of the day. I should have gone back in the Trip Advisor reviews, this was happening for goodness sake in 2015, it shows that nothing has changed. Please be warned, and I wish you well when you visit Barbados, I cannot wait to see these lovely people on this particularly special island again. Best regards, Robert Mark Alexander and of course the sentiments of his better half. PS. The restaurant staff deserve a special mention, they all made my unfortunate experience just about bearable, my special thanks to you, you are lovely and I will miss you, Andrea and Myra, I hope the names are correctly spelt, but I'm sure you know who you are anyway, and Melanie in room service was extra special too.

"The very best"

The best service, quality accommodation and food quality in Barbados. Staff are all exceptional. Great beach. Best restaurant in Barbados serving nothing but fresh locally sourced produce. We can not wait to return.

We loved it here! Very peaceful, huge rooms, very good restaurant, very friendly people all around, easy access to all kind of water sports, 10 minutes walk to a good supermarket. Overall very accommodating and well worth a stay or two or three :-) However, it is very pricey and so is the whole island.

Staff nice but resort jaded. Very expensive for what it is. Beach good. Pool ok. Parking good. Fairly quiet. Don’t expect 5 star service though. Room cleaning hit and miss. Only had breakfast at the restaurant which was very average and expensive.

"Nearly but not quite"

6.0

Our first time on Barbados and on arrival here we were delighted with the accommodation. Very spacious, immaculate 2/3 bedroom apartment (they're not "villas"), decent kitchen, and a lovely balcony overlooking the pool/sea. We'd had great interaction with Shane before arrival and were looking forward to a relaxing stay. We thought the location was fine, plenty of great little places nearby and a short walk into Speightstown we didn't need much else tbh. So far so good. But.....we are a pair of mature couples and the resort just isn't aimed at us. It really is better for families I'd say unless you're in a particular part of the resort. Ours, 209, central first floor (level 2) was immediately above the kids club and directly overlooked the pool area. This was signed as closing at 6pm but was often in use by very noisy groups much later than this which meant we couldn't use our balcony. We requested the concierge on several occasions to deal with this, which they did. Fortunately the club wasn't well attended so disturbance from there was only an occasional issue. If you were determined to come here, I'd suggest requesting something as far away from the pool as possible and perhaps on a higher floor. This would have improved our experience greatly I believe. So sadly not somewhere we would return which is a shame as our initial impression was so good. We ate at the Gazebo restaurant as we arrived early evening, this a was a mistake not to be repeated. At 8pm we were the only diners and they couldn't wait to get rid of us. Starters and mains all arrived together, rather overpriced and they closed at 9.30, wouldn't even serve us another drink. Pretty poor really. We were on a breakfast inclusive. This was limited but decent with some nice omelettes etc but the coffee!! We gave up on this, we could order coffee which "wasn't on the plan" at some daft price but didn't as a matter of principle. On our last day they relented and gave us a decent Americano. The other stuff was instant granules from a catering pack. C'mon you're better than this surely?! So, slightly disappointing in the end but maybe we were just in the wrong place??

"Good with super setting"

8.0

Stayed in 3rd floor apartment which was great. Superb sea/ beach view and felt private. Interior was classic and stylish. Bed super comfy. Nothing to complain about in the slightest. Beach beautiful and felt secluded. Shallow water and safe for kids to paddle. Staff friendly and understated. Restaurant wasn’t great - hugely expensive and wasn’t really somewhere we wanted to spend much time. This is in comparison to Cobblers Cove a couple of doors down which was 1st class. I think perhaps the exterior needs a refurb as the grounds between the property & the beach just needs a refurb. Would be great to have a beach bar/ grill and a decent pool- perhaps some uplifting music to give it a better ambience. There was a pool but it wasn’t inviting which is a shame and could be fantastic as the backdrop is stunning. Overall we really enjoyed our trip and the hotel. We didn’t like the restaurant setting and the price of meals and drinks was simply too high. Hopefully with some tweaks in the future after everyone has had time to regroup after the pandemic, this would become a must go to destination. 4 star rating with a potential 5 star with a few adjustments. The concierge and staff were lovely. Would we stay again - possibly.

"Tired and dilapidated property"

2.0

Booked a 3 bed apartment. You get 4 dinner plates 4 mugs etc We were on the ground floor with patio doors that didnt lock The microwave beeped continuously as it was faulty The air con packed up on day 3 and was dripping Staff were amazing and kept fixing things but are fighting a losing battle with a property that needs a refurb and deep clean. Got told I couldn't use the air con in gym whilst training and when i asked why i was told that I should 'respect' the owner ! he had bought a place i was only holidaying. There is a welcome night where all the owners come and swap stories of their colonial pedigrees - awful arrogance on display I would not recommend this place and would not go back, it was dirty, we had crabs walking around in the bathrooms , bedding got changed on day 6 after we told the concierge. At this point we were allocated a good cleaner. Limited breakfast menu and dinner was more expensive than the nice local restaurants.
