Clarkes hotel, A grand heritage hotel since 1898

The staff was extremely friendly and tried very hard. The property is overall quaint and appealing but it needs some upgrades. Even though it is a heritage hotel and is supposed to maintain it's original state as much as possible that is no excuse for stained carpet and furniture and a bathroom floor drain that floods out when the bathtub is emptied. Also most places in this price range have free wi-fi. Annoying to have to pay daily for wi-fi that often doesn't work.

As a guest I was treated very well. I was upgraded to a suite, which was wonderful. The staff were friendly, very respectful, and helpful. The suite was clean, quiet, and restful. This hotel is about 100 years old, and in good condition. The rooms are obviously upgraded and more than adequate. The dinner and breakfast at this place met my expectations - the choice was good and the quality excellent.

Must have been a great hotel in its hey days. Long overdue for renovations. I gave feedback with photos of mouldy areas, chipped bathtub and horrible window frames - 12 months ago. Did not even have a decent (non-computer reply). Tha management should stay at the JWMarriott in Chandigarh and see the difference at a less expensive hotel.

Excellent hotel with a good location and stunning scenery.

While the first look when we entered was a little disappointing, because the lobby is very small, and its not flashy and overtly luxurious, but the understated elegance grew on us and the impeccable Oberoi service bowled us over the two nights/three days that we spent here. Room Tip: The normal rooms are very small so book the premier rooms and the extra would be very worth it!

It was a pleasant stay at Clarkes. We had stayed for a couple of nights at wildflower hall and then shifted to Clarkes to be near the ridge. Good location. There is a lot of noise around due to construction adjacent to the hotel (towards the court side) and the honking of vehicles through the day and night. So we chose a higher floor. Very helpful staff. Food was good.
