Apartment lovely and big. Access to communal area a welcome surprise. Some of the staff were lovely too Breakfast was nice. Wine tasting would have been nice but we missed it due to illness. Our friends staying on site too enjoyed the experience and commented the meal was very good

The lady who welcomed us looked like we made her life an inconvenience. Rude to our taxi driver. Our apartment had a step in the middle of the room which was dangerous at nighttime Our television didn't work. Staff tried to help but basically told us nothing they could do. Not helpful when a member of our party was poorly in bed and the other member was room bound to care for her. Bedside light not working No access to outdoor shower...not that it was needed but no key left. Couldn't locate keys on check in and finished up with spares. Then took the fob off us that opened the accessible gate. Gate not working on departure causing stress in getting access to our taxi driver Striped mouse in room! Yes, a mouse. Long way from Stellenbosch Overpriced for location. 'on-site' taxi number provided. When called he was busy. Told Uber didn't come out. This could have left us totally isolated on the estate. Uber DID come out and are cheaper.

Serious Safety Incident – No Proper Action Taken During our stay at Marianne Farm, I experienced a very serious and shocking incident. As was briefly explained and written to a staff members Andrea, Catherine and Deorette, one morning I woke up half asleep and took a sip from what I believed was our bottle of drinking water placed next to the bed. Instead, the bottle contained diluted bleach. The container looked like a regular water bottle provided by the residence, so there was no reason to suspect it contained a chemical. The moment I swallowed, my mouth and throat began burning immediately. The entire day that followed was extremely distressing — I suffered painful burning sensations in my mouth, throat, and esophagus, along with nausea, vomiting, and continued difficulty swallowing. What is even more disappointing is that after reporting this incident, nothing meaningful was done. There was no proper follow-up, no serious concern shown, and no appropriate resolution offered. Considering the severity of what happened, this lack of responsibility and care is deeply troubling. This was not a minor inconvenience — it was a serious health and safety failure. Guests should never be put in a position where cleaning chemicals are stored in drinking bottles inside their rooms. We are extremely shocked and disappointed by both the incident itself and the way it was handled. I strongly urge management not only to immediately review and correct their safety procedures to ensure this never happens again, but also to take full responsibility for what occurred and provide appropriate compensation for the serious health risk and distress caused during our stay.

"Perfect stay"

We got an upgrade to the most beautiful room of the property, the pool house, which was amazing. Besides, there were many other extra’s included. The staff was really kind and the location is good too to explore some other vineyards.

"Worst room EVER"

Hi, I have repeatedly contacted Booking.com regarding them totally mis-selling accommodation at Marianne Wine Estate, Stellenbosch, South Africa, but they are denying any responsibility. My wife and I planned our South Africa trip and booked six different properties through Booking.com. Most were fine, except for this one. Booking.com advertised a "Superior chalet", which we booked, over 7th to 9th February 2026, as it looked good from the photos and included facilities of Air conditioning, Hi-Speed Wi-Fi and a refrigerator in room. When I arrived with my wife to take over our Superior Chalet, we found that it was actually a brick hut, in the middle of vin-yard field, around 1 km from the main site. It had no Air conditioning, fridge or Wi-Fi. Considering that the temperature outside was around 35 degrees C, there was no way we could sleep there. There was a lot of stagnant water around the hut that meant there were HUGE swarms of insects (mosquitos) around - so we wouldn't be able to sit outside on the patio or open the windows. The toilet was dreadful - unclean and very old. The sink was a small copper bowl, nine inches in diameter, with corroded pipes leading to it. The shower was a copper hose, that was also heavily corroded, and around 5 feet 8 inches high, over a rough concrete floor (and I'm 6 feet three inches) . This was simply the worst accommodation I have ever seen and for Booking.com to promote it as "Superior Chalet" with those facilities, is mis-selling. When we complained to the staff, they said "Yes, Yes, we have had other complaints about this type of room, via Booking.com. They said that they will refund us through Booking.com". Obviously this hasn't happened. The staff told us that Booking.com was using details and photos from the "Luxury" range of chalets and that these were not the same as the Superior Chalets. When we complain to Booking.
