The Star Hotel

Great location, awesome friendly staff, breakfast was nice, we always find it easier to have breakfast where we are staying before heading out for the day. We were able to leave our luggage while we explored before heading to the cruise terminal which was greatly appreciated.

Good location for us as is close to ferry terminal and cheap room rate. Spacious room with a spacious shower that had decent water pressure. Parking options are handy.

Bed quite uncomfortable, mattress really old and worn feeling with an old noisy bedframe and was also noisy out back due to other businesses putting bins out so did not sleep well at all. Staff were not particularly welcoming nor friendly on arrival. Staff in morning were a bit more pleasant dealing with check out. Was mostly clean enough looking but very dated, worn out and smelled of wee near bed. Bedside table top was sticky then discovered one open condom packet and 2 unopened in drawer which you'd have thought housekeeping would have checked over and cleaned! Nothing motivating us to book again in future...even at a lower price.

Room no. 11 seems to be next to a technical room. Repeating noise during the night. Friendly staff relocated me for the 2 night into room 45 wich was quiet.

Location appeared to be ideal, close enough to the cruise terminal to walk.

There were foul smells throughout the common areas of the building we were in. The condition of our room was poor and needed several repairs. We found bed bug debris in the mattress seams, and bed bug traps under the beds. This made us feel very uncomfortable knowing they'd had recent bed bug issues. Ultimately, we were unsettled enough that we found a cleaner and cheaper alternative that night, and still waiting for our refund from the Star Hotel.
