"Hilltop Gardens Hotel and Apartments"

4.0

Very dated, pictures look great on the advertisement, but do not be fooled!!! Rude reception staff! Witnessed one staff member being rude and ignorant to a holiday makers request for clean sheets. completely blanking him while she was attempting to book in new arrivals, even though he was already being seen to!!! Very SHOCKING, and unprofessional!!! Jet2. I was very disappointed!! Stayed in 3 star rated holidays many times, but this was the straw that broke the camels back!!! Dirty, very basic. I complained that our change of bath towels smelt awful, nothing was done to rectify this! I’ve stayed in better ‘Hostels!’ - Ideal if using as a base just to sleep and shower. Not to relax and use the pool, pool lining was lifting away from the base. The hotel is in a residential area, lots of new exclusive apartment homes being built. It’s a busy construction area. Lots of dust and noise from each development. Hire a car and get away from the hotel/ apartments. Plug sockets hanging out of the walls, light fittings also hanging out of the walls, lucky we were not electrocuted!!!! Bathroom bins with toilet paper not emptied, on some days, hotel domestic staff looking like they needed to retire years ago, bless them. Lidl shopping trollies lined up outside my ground floor seating area. Grounds maintenance poor and dirty… cigarette ends and rubbish !!! Breakfast, basic, and if you didn’t take your breakfast cups and plates back to the bar area, the staff would tell you off!!! Dreadful! My advice, learn your lesson, read reviews, do your research and stay away from this place. DO NOT be fooled by a photo…. I certainly have learnt from this experience. Myself and my 15 year old Daughter, made the best of a bad outcome!! The beach at ‘Venus Beach Hotel was lovely and we loved a stroll along the seafront promenade watching the beautiful sunsets and eating at various restaurants along the way. If you are on a very small budget and you need to get away to the sunshine and warmth and just need a base, then look at this place as a hostel and nothing else. There’s lots to explore in Paphos.

"Filthy"

4.0

Unfortunately the cleaners at this complex are filthy. I arrived around 8pm on Saturday to find the appartment wasn't cleaned. The beds were made but there was a toilet brush in the toilet and a used shower gel on the shower window sill and sand on the floor. I got a really bad stomach when I woke up Sunday and had it all week. I disinfected everything. The cleaner came in when I was in the room on Monday. I had cleaned the kitchen sink and had plates, cutlery ect washed up on the side. The cleaner took her dity mop bucket with dirty water I presume from other rooms and poored it in my kitchen sink! On Wednesday I returned to find new towels folded on the bed. They were filthy covered in brown spots and smelly. Reception said there must have been a mix up with laundry and replaced them. On Thursday I returned from diving to find the mop bucket in my kitchen sink again. This time a different cleaner so this is obviously common practise. I reported this to reception and asked them not to let cleaners in my room again. It was apparent that none of the walls, handles, windows drawers and surfaces had been cleaned for some time. There were little hairs and smears all over. It is such a shame because the appartment was dated but nice. The complex and pool was nice. I use the bar the first night and it had a good atmosphere but in daylight when I saw that the cleaning was poor I didn't want to risk it again. The man that worked there was pleasant and fixed by shower immediately when it didn't work. The lady at the counter on Saturday morning kindly let me stay in the room until 11:15 which was very nice. This is why I gave a 2. The Appartments are in the middle of a building site at the moment which is unfortunate but not their fault. The banging started at 7am sharp every day. It didn't bother me as I was out every day. Despite this I would have give this place a 4 if it had been cleaned. They clearly haven't heard of cross contamination. The next person might get a lot sicker than me.

"Dirty"

2.0

Would avoid, worst 3 star I’ve ever stayed in. Absolutely filthy, covered in ants. Self catering is impossible within the living conditions. The pool had scum around it for the 2 weeks we was there. Moved rooms several times, was offered another hotel for an additional £850 which we could not afford. Plug sockets hanging off the wall major danger hazard

"As expected for price"

6.0

As expected for the price - nice enough, small hotel so atmosphere very much dependant on the other families around. Sun loungers get reserved early and there aren't many, staff say this is not allowed but do nothing to enforce it. Beds and pillows are very uncomfortable, rooms are OK, basic and dated however. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

A cosy and nice hotel located close to Lidl, the beach and the Royal Tombs. Clean rooms, 24-hour bar and minimarket available on site. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a nice time there! I recommend for a quiet holiday and relaxation.

"Do not visit this hotel"

2.0

This hotel is infected with bugs ants and cockroaches when I told the receptionist she called me a liar ..the air con didn’t work the toilet leaked the shower head was full of limescale the bedding had holes and stains on them The receptionist was extremely rude and unhelpful …the first room we was put in was ridiculously small for 3 adults blinds didn’t work security light shining through we was moved to another room which was bigger but when I opened the balcony doors we was faced with a building site The food was horrible and extremely over priced 14 euros for a jacket potato The swimming pool was more a paddling pool that had hair and leafs init This hotel needs to be knocked down and the receptionist needs training I would NOT recommend this hotel It’s horrendous Bins in the toilet wasn’t changed for days Cats poo outside our door

"Better than expected"

10.0

I’ve just got back from a week at Hilltop gardens and I had a wonderful time, the rooms are clean and spacious, nice pool, great restaurant and lovely staff. You have to pay for air con which is €6.50 a night, I wouldn’t bother as I found leaving the doors and windows was cooler than using the air con. Ask at reception and they will give you a hairdryer, as there isn’t one in the rooms. Plugs are the same as in England so you don’t need to take any European plugs with you. There is a shop 5 minutes up the road, also a Aldi 10 minutes down the road, a taxi will cost about 10/12 euros back to the hotel. There are a few restaurants and shops within walking distance and a beach 10 mins away just opposite Aldi. It is a little out the way from Paphos harbour and the old town, but there are buses which will take you anywhere, you can get a day rider for €6.50 a day or €25 for the week, just ask the bus driver. I will definitely come back to hilltop gardens, but I wouldn’t book through an agent, I would do it separately, look on their website, they charge €39 for 1 bed or €68 for a 2 bed apartment per night. airport is about 30mins away so I would hire a car (because they drive on the left) and save on transfers and you can visit the island without paying for trips. Overall it’s a great place to stay, very quite and a great base to explore Paphos.

"Som förväntat för ett mellanklasshotell"

Rent och välstädat. Adapter till vattenkokaren saknades liksom fjärrkontroll till TV. Påpekade detta och fick båda i receptionen.
