"If the price is right give it a go."

8.0

The hotel looked closed at first and I couldn't find my way in as all doors require access cards. I could see the reception but no one was there. In the end it became clear, check in across the road at sister hotel. (Stand with Smereldo behind you at the main road and look across the road to the left, it is there). Check in was simple, car park at front with push button gate. Very few people were seen in the hotel (good/bad). We were on the second floor looking out to the lake, it was a nice view no means fantastic but a few drinks on it went well. The room itself was fine, in my opinion a little oldy worldy but thats ok. We didn't use the pool so can't comment. We did however get a night where we had a ceiling full of insects, we spent 20mins 'removing' them. We did have the door open for a few hours and were not aware of insect issues prior- keep door closed at night is my advice. Would I stay again - yes, but I would consider other locations as I think there is better. We did get it at a good price though.

"Super beliggenhed"

8.0

"Hotel Smeraldo welcoming "

6.0

Arrived the hotel at ten am in the morning , could not get it to the hotel. No sign in English to tell us that we would have to check in at hotel la paul across the road. Luckily the lady looking after the breakfast room told us. We felt that we were left on our own , anything needed we would have to walk across the road to hotel La Paul reception to place the request as NO staff in hotel Smeraldo. As advertised, the hotel Smeraldo did have a swimming pool (paddling pool) the main pool was across the road at hotel La Paul. The pictures shown on the website of the outside grounds are not true to form. I find that hotel Smeraldo and hotel La Paul are two different hotels or are they one hotel ?? if they are one should there not be the same treatment given as La Paul ( breakfast) We felt we spent a lot on this holiday and we were in budget accommodation.

"Beware!"

4.0

Hotel Smeraldo itself has good features, but it is, in effect, run from Hotel LaPaul, which is across the road from Smeraldo. Our room in Smeraldo was quite comfortable and very well-serviced. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable. But facilities were very limited; the "swimming pool" was actually a children's paddling pool, which clearly had not been maintained, and other aspects around the outside of the hotel had been neglected. There was no reception service in Smeraldo; we had to cross the road to check in/out and to deal with any issues. The service we received at LaPaul was very poor - inefficient, to say the least. They were very disinterested on checking-in, offering minimal help. Later, they tried to charge us twice for a (quite revolting) meal we had eaten in their restaurant, having somehow no record of our initial payment, even though we had a printed copy of our payment! We had a very lengthy debate on checking-out, before the proprietor reluctantly agreed that we probably had paid! We most definitely would not stay at Smeraldo/LaPaul again, despite its lovely location.

"Disappointing stay"

4.0

we were given a ground floor with a view of a wall. It was dark and depressing. There were two bedrooms and a wet room bathroom that flooded with my first shower. It's only an annexe for the La Paul and isn't staffed. Breakfast is the only time when one member of staff is present. The hotels were full and we couldn't change rooms. Make sure you get a room over looking the lake.

"Good location and views"

6.0

A bit weird in the sense that there aren't really any staff you see as you check in across the road, but nice room and good views...although when rooms next door flush their toilet it is very loud!

"Schönes Hotel in die Nähe vom Altstadt. "

6.0

"Disappointing honeymoon experience. Poor value for money; ignored and forgotten guests."

4.0

In this location I would highly recommend a room with lake side view, either that or get a room in it's sister hotel La Paul. Our room was not lake side, and over looked the busy main road into Sirmione. It was also dark and gloomy with no poor check in and no information about facilities. Breakfast was self service in a dark room on the west of building when they could have taken advantage of the views over the lake. After breakfast in our hotel the refreshments area were locked and you couldn't even access drinking water. Smeraldo hotel felt like an over flow hotel with no information or customer service for guests. We didn't even realise the hotel was on the lake until we wandered round there to explore and found amazing views over the lake by an area of grass with sunbeds. There was no information about the facilities of the hotel and the fact that we could use the facilities of the sister hotel La Paul. At one point I did ask if we could have breakfast at La Paul by the lake as it was our honeymoon and we wanted a romantic experience, I was told we would have to pay 3 euro supplement each. I told them the travel company had emailed ahead to ask if we could use the restaurant facilities at La paul and that that had already been agreed and was still told we had to pay extra. The reception in Smeraldo was not manned AT ALL at any point during our stay, and absolutely no information about what was on offer for guests; facilities etc. Check in was non existent as it was a night porter who gave us no information at all. We discovered on our last day that there were free bicycles available for us to use from La Paul and that there was a grassed area with sunbeds and a bar with beach towels for us to use and that they served drinks and food all day. No-one had told us about this. I was very disappointed to feel so 'ignored' by the management. One good thing about the hotel was the room cleaning service.

"Cheap and at excellent location"

8.0

A little 3 stars hotel with very nice balconies with the view of the lake Grada, nice HB meals, excellent room #452 which has the best position at its third floor, very quite and isolated. The hotel position is about 700 meters from the old city center of Sirmione, and has a private parking, which is very important at that area.
