Hotel Niederländischer Hof Schwerin

Schwerin city and the castle is worth a visit. It has a very long history including being a part of DDR after WWII! and up to 1989. Close to the center you'll find Niederllaendischer Hof in an old building dating back to 1901. It's a nice hotel with gated parking. The restaurant is very good, but it's slow food, so don't be in a hurry.

Nice old hotel right by a small lake (Pfaffenteich) and within walking distance to the center (5 - 10 minutes). I had no problems to find a parking space on the road in front of the hotel entrance (free on sat&sun). We had 2 adjacent really huge rooms with lake-view, facing to the street but still quiet. Everything was clean, but a little worn down on some ends (courtain, floor). Marble floors in both bathrooms. WLAN was slow. Good breakfast. I would come again.

Very traditional hotel with a history going back to 1904 or before. Old structure, renovated but still having a old feel. Our room was large, looking out over the courtyard so indeed quiet. Bathroom lacks sufficient light for make-up, and floods when you shower in the bath tub which is not easy to get into for older people. Free wi-fi works well. The room has a 4 poster bed which is nice but impractical if you want to look at the - rather small - flatscreen TV attached to the side wall fold out only a little. Breakfast too expensive, better walk along the nice lake in front of the hotel to a bakery at the corner. A hotel for nostalgic expense account travellers.

This is a beautifully decorated and furnished hotel, a short walk from the railway station and next to the lake in the centre of town. I found the staff unfriendly though and not very customer focussed, the best way to describe it would be to say it felt as though the manager was away and the staff were enjoying the break! It is an old building and there was no air conditioning in my room. The weather was warm when I was visiting in August and when I asked for a fan for my room I was told that they didn't have any. For a hotel positioning itself at the top end of the market, this struck me as a bit poor.

Free ample parking in secure area behind hotel. Delightful room. Extremely well presented. We had a very quiet room at rear of hotel although there is the option of lakeside rooms at the front. Liked the fact the windows fully opened unlike many hotels. Wifi fine . Would benefit from tea and coffee facilities in room. Lovely room overlooking lake for breakfast/ dinner. Reception staff polite and helpful

The WIFI only works in the lobby and not your room. Mini frig advertised didn't work.Their free parking lot only handles 10 vehicles. Then you need to find and pay for your own parking. The facility is old which is fine if it is updated and well maintained this facility is neither. They do have an excellent breakfast for a cost of 14E.

After a week in Hamburg, we were looking for a quiet, scenic getaway in a traditional Northern German small town and decided upon Schwerin because of the castle and museums. Tripadvisor reviews indicated that Niederlandischer was one of the better hotels in the town. A five minute walk for the train station put us in front of this historic (1901), convenient and nicely decorated, upscale hotel. The front desk service was outstanding, the meals excellent (we had both dinner and breakfast) and it was walking distance to the sights we wanted to see. The room was tastefully decorated, the sofa a little dated which we prefer and bed very comfortable. I would return to Schwerin just to say at the Niederlandischer Hof again.

You will enjoy staying at the Niederländischer Hof Schwerin. The location provides a great view of the lake and an easy walk to restaurants and shopping. The castle is only a few minutes walk as well. The room was outstanding: roomy, well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast (for additional cost) was very nice with a full complement of options. You will love this place.

Young Asian greeter at reception desk deserves social recognitions for courtesy and interest that we had a good stay

The hotel is small but provides an excellent location and is walkable to the train station. Breakfast was good. Hotel staff does not speak much English.
