"Stayed in a cabin and was disappointed"

4.0

There are two types of cabins: 1. Old and dingy 2. Renovated and still kind of dingy. If you stay here because you'd like to have access to a kitchen - set your expectations low - which we did based on other reviews. We were booked for three nights and we changed cabins three times. The first cabin was old and dingy and there were no other guests so I asked to be moved to a renovated cabin. They very kindly moved us. While in the second cabin we made some tea and noticed that one of the knobs on the stove was different than the others. Unfortunately this was the burner we used and couldn't turn the gas off. We notified the front desk who came to check it out, said it was broke and we had to move to another cabin. We packed up our stuff and moved to another renovated cabin. The third cabin is where we spent our first and second nights. The cabin was fine - it had two bedrooms and two bathrooms - the kitchenette worked and we were ok with everything. Then we discovered one of the toilets didn't flush. We notified the staff who came to check it out and determined that it was broke and told us to not use it. Fine - we were ok with that as we had another bathroom and were only two people in the cabin. The second night we stayed we tried to take showers and discovered we didn't have hot water. In the end, we decided to check out one night early as this place just wasn't worth the aggravation. They only charged us for the 2 nights we stayed and that was nice of them.

"Great scenery, but hotel needs to be updated"

6.0

Great location at the park entrance. Beautiful view, nice surroundings (river, horses..). The food at the restaurant is not so great, and the towels are not so clean neither... Nice staff!

"Don't miss out on Torres del Paine!"

6.0

Overall area is very expensive but hotel was considerable. Outdated rooms, small twin beds when requested king, or the equivalent- seems very old.. Otherwise staff was very friendly and helpful everyday! Gorgeous area surrounding of course!

"Expensive for a poor room"

4.0

We stayed in the main hotel. The room was very dated for the price, and there was a dog barking most of the night right outside the window. The staff was nice and the restaurant was good but try to find a better room. The shower was not hot but the next morning it was.

"A good deal in Torres del Paine. "

8.0

We rented a cabin and were able to cook for ourselves. Once in a while, we took advantage of the reasonably priced restaurant. The manager of the hotel and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The view of the mountains from our cabin was amazing. We would go back.

"Carefully hidden place, OK, but with oddhandicaps."

6.0

Very difficult to find; you have to look for and count the garbage containers as described on their site... The owners definitely refuse to pin up signs along the roads to get there. Maybe they have a sadistic pleasure in hearing how people get lost in that remote area. The chalet was very spacious, comfortable, but with very odd "architectural" features, like a big opening between the sleeping room and the bathroom, so you can perferctly see your partner on the WC doing his job... There are also low, but tricky differences in floor levels, faucets that don't fit the sinks, WC cover doesn't fit the pot, etc. The lady owner is friendly, but didn't seem to have the time for us. She was always in a hurry and busy with private matters. Internet connection is good. There is a beautiful, romantic veranda where you can have your breakfast. Mixed feelings about this place.

"Great Location, Freezing Cabin"

6.0

The location is great being at the south entrance of the park. Easy to find. Surrounding scenery would have been beautiful except it was raining/cloudy the day we stayed so couldnt see the surrounding mountains. Front desk girl was not friendly or very helpful. The cabin was very basic which is what I was expecting based on reviews i had read. The kitchenette had all the necessities. Our major hang up about this place was the temperature of the cabin. When we arrived, it seemed as if they had just turned on the heat shortly beforehand- it was a bit chilly. Im the type of person that keeps my heat down low at home(55 degrees Fahrenheit) in the winter and it was too cold for me. We all kept our coats on thinking it would heat up eventually. The problem is they have old radiators that are run on hot water and they just were not enough to heat the cold air. It was november when we visited and it was in the 40's(Fahrenheit) as a high during the day and rainy that day. Im not sure what they do in the cooler months to keep guests warm. Then a few hours after we arrived, we realized the heaters had turned off all together and we didnt have hot water to take showers. So it went from chilly to downright cold. We told the front desk and they sent someone who relighted the gas hot water heater. Needless to say, it never got warm. We slept in our shirts, sweaters, scarves, jackets, fleece leggings, pants, socks and the 2 blankets they provided. Lets just say it was a fun camping adventure

"Worn and Tired"

4.0

There were no remaining cabins so we stayed 3 nights in a “superior” room. Although the room was large, it is sad, worn and dated. The only furniture other than the lumpy beds, and a hallway armoire, were a pair of chairs for looks only - pillowy bottoms but no backs other than slim metal rods. The bathroom was also large but the tub so deep, that a slippery exit was dangerous with no safety bars. Most unpleasent were the breakfasts of stale bread (including dinner rolls left over from dinner the night before), and slices of pressed ham and nondescript cheese. Cereal is limited to corn flakes and instant oatmeal. Two mornings, there was a bowl of fruit cocktail made of canned, stewed and previously frozen fruits. There were pastries – cookies and chocolate swirl breads - - without a hint of butter. Even the coffee was bad. (Pack food if you can.)

"Great location"

10.0

Excellent option for winter hikes, when everything else is closed. It is a bit expensive to stay there, but if renting a cabin it's easy to cook yourself as the kitchen facilities are good. It is necessary to have a car, as it is not just a two km walk from the administration.
