I was in vacation and reserved 4 nights. after two nights my wife had an accident and had to be moved for a hospital for surgery in Paris area. the hotel refused to reimburse me for the the 2 nights we could not stayed.
Excellent hotel with a few minor glitches. Staff were generally friendly except for one morning when we got to breakfast close to the end of the serving time. Desk staff gave good recommendations about restaurants, free parking, etc. The room itself was lovely and spacious. There was an odd ridge in the space between two twin mattresses but the bed itself was comfortable. We didn't take the buffet breakfast or any meals at the hotel; nor did we use the spa or swimming pool. We had to leave early on the last day and the hotel was pleased to get us coffee and croissants before ordinary serving hours (but after a large tour group left).
The hotel facilities are great, but, the staff is outstanding. All were extremely friendly and helpful. I will surely stay there the next time I am in Sarlat.
For a few days in Sarlat you could not fault the location of Plaza Madelaine just at the end of the main street. Our room was lovely and the pool area excellent. Would stay there again. Not the cheapest of hotels but with parking and its location well worth the money.
The front dest staff went above and beyond in being helpful to guests who didn't speak the language. They made the stay entirely enjoyable. Breakfasts were great!
Location couldn't be better. Room comfortable and quiet. Great facilities except dud hair dryer. Great pool and bar.
Recently modernised to a high standard this old, well established hotel is an excellent base.
It's a nice hotel, recently upgraded from 3 stars to 4 stars. The decor, black and silver, seemed more reminiscent of a nightclub than a country hotel but it was smart nonetheless. The bathrooms seemed not to have been upgraded and ours was a little tired (no seal on the bottom of the shower screen over the bath) but it was clean and the shower worked well. You can pay the hotel for off-road parking but there are two free car parks (one quite large) on the neatby Av. du Général de Gaulle.
I didn't have a car and taxis were difficult to get and VERY unprofessional and unreliable when they did come, and those were the ones the hotel got for me! Food in the general vicinity was mediocre and over-priced. Room was the size of the bed. Housekeeping was the best part of the experience --- genuinely nice and helpful.
Lovely building in a great part of town. A good place to visit. We enjoyed our stay in a comfortable room. In the evening we walked to one of the many restaurants and had a fabulous dinner.
