Sunset Hotel

The hospitality of the staff was outstanding, as well as the comfort and location of the hotel. Plentiful breakfast...including gluten free bread :). We upgraded to a 3rd floor room with an outstanding view of the water and port, and spacious balcony. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Note: we rented a car one day to drive specifically to Panaramous beach, Ana Mera, Kalafatis beach. We added the drive to Agraria beach...bit of a narrow road, but beautiful views. We just walked everywhere the other days of our trip, including to Ornos beach and the new port at Tourlas as well as the maze in the city center, windmills, Little Venice. Excellent stay...even off season the end of March!

The hotel was comfortable, small and cozy. There are signs for the hotel, but one of them was posted along with the hotel Mykos sign; I'm not sure if they mean the same thing, but it would be nice to have a big sign along the main road too. The staff was very friendly. One of them, Maria, I believe, speaks very little English but she has a very warm demeanor. Kostas was helpful and knowledgeable about the area as well. The view is spectacular from this location!

Booked this hotel since we planned to get car rental from airport and the hotel description listed free car park available. This was deceptive as it was a common car park about 30m away. Small signage among other hotels sign boards makes it difficult to find for first timers. The hotel is like others facing the caldera. We came in December so maybe less facilities (e.g. jacuzzi) and service staff (we only met 1 staff throughout our stay who was the receptionist, cleaner and served breakfast)? Breakfast was decent with a hard boiled egg, Bread with butter and jam, Orange Juice, Coffee/Tea, Greek sweet dessert, Cheese and Ham. The sunset views does justice to its name. Shops and restaurants nearby but all were closed in winter. It's just 10 minutes walk to Fira for restaurants and shops that are open (about 5% are open in winter). The lack of crowds is the attraction in winter but at the same time the archaeological site in Akrotiri is closed. However, it does make driving the narrow winding roads easier without the crowds. The hotel room itself is pretty cramped for 3 persons. Not much storage space. Bathroom is also small. I guess the price is mostly for the view and you're not supposed to spend too much time in the room. Only thing really bad was the ventilation as there's condensation on the floor and walls due to the low temperature and it's worse in bathroom after showering. Wifi speed seems decent enough and TV had the most English channels.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. However, the hotel is on the second level, so be prepared to haul your luggages down the stairs. The room I stayed in is decent with an amazing view of the sea. The only problem I had with the room I stayed, had ants, mainly in the bathroom.

Nick and Maria are very helpful and the view is fantastic. However, they were doing the refurbishment while we were there and it’s quite noisy.

Three star. Lots of smokers. Decent breakfast and wifi. Amazing views and location. Showers had little pressure, often cold; sink was terribly plugged from previous few guests.

Excellent view and clean. But service at check in could be improved.
