"Excellent"

8.0

Great location. Brilliant that guests can use local leisure facility for free. Would stay again but would not eat here. Despite the dining room being fully booked and no room in the bar areas, as clearly a popular place, the food we were served was awful and we didn’t eat it. Maybe we were just unlucky with our choices.

"Highly Recommended ! "

10.0

An excellent choice - the extra distance to drive is worthwhile - beautiful surroundings and options for lovely walks. Our room was extremely well appointed - very clean, very comfortable and the food and service for breakfast was top notch ! We were very happy with our 2 night stay! Room was serviced daily ! Evening meal was excellent too!

"Great base on Eltermere in The Lake District."

8.0

The Britannia Inn is in a beautiful position at the centre of the small village of Elterwater. It is a pub with good food, excellent local real ales and a large area outside with tables. It is a pretty postcard type scene with white paint and many hanging baskets. The rooms are fairly small but clean and comfortable. However, the stairway and carpet is well in need of refurbishment. The staff are very friendly indeed and there is an extremely relaxed atmosphere. Dogs are very welcome and can stay in the rooms. Breakfast was very good. There are many circular and varied walks directly from the inn and it is on The Cumbrian Way.

"Rustic Lakes Pub/Hotel"

10.0

The Britannia is a great place to stay for its location, rustic charm and fabulous food. It is a pub with rooms so if you go there expecting 5 star accommodation you will be disappointed. This place is all about its location, sitting outside the pub, taking in the stunning view and having a drink. The food is excellent. Rooms are quite basic, but clean and comfortable.

"Avoid room 3"

6.0

Lovely inn in a great location though still very busy even in September (you'll be lucky to get a table for drinks / food in the evenings.) We booked a room with a separate bathroom, not realising it meant you had to walk across the public hallway (next to the ladies toilet) to get to our private bathroom. Our room was also above the restaurant so noisy until late and again early in the morning. So nice inn but suggest you avoid room 3 unless you're a heavy sleeper and don't mind the lack of a proper en suite!

"Britannia Inn...Very welcoming"

10.0

This hotel is the best for fell walkers in the area. Have stayed before and will stay again. They also welcome dogs. My only comment is breakfast is 8.30 to 9.15am. As I am up at 5am it is a long wait to eat !! But most hotels are the same.
