Luz Madrid Rooms

Margarita es una excelente y amable persona meritoria de la gran admiración por lo bien que atiende a todos sus huéspedes.

Have been staying here since 2015. I would not keep going back if it wasn't good. They are very friendly and welcoming. I have said in previous reviews that they don't speak any English, but they did say a few words this time!! My Spanish is improving too! There was a problem this time. The lift in the building had stopped working on the day I arrived. Liz rooms are on the 3rd floor so this made things quite difficult for me as I have a heart problem and high blood pressure. Consequently, my stay was less enjoyable this time. Marguerite was very apologetic and the problem was not her fault. The lift was fixed on the day I left. Looking forward to going back there in September. Hope the lift is working!! Muchas gracias!!

This is not our usual choice of accommodation. Although we were pleasantly surprised, clean neat and bit quirky.

Location is great. close to the Opera metro station and walking distance to Palace and city center. Hard to find an entrance at night.

Hostel not worth the price was expensive this price would be a hotel and not a hostel. But it was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. But the breakfast was not in the hotel. The breakfast was very small and very poor compared to the price of the hostel. Again he did not buy it because he did not pick up the price.

Stay was ok as the other facility of Luz is much more better. Room heater doesn’t seem to work and we suffered due to cold. Moreover the people in charge doesn’t speak english so was difficult to communicate.

I have stayed here several times now and have always been happy. I have mentioned in previous reviews that the owner didn't speak English. After my last review, she said 'Thank you'. Progress!! This is the second time I have stayed at this time of year. I would definitely not stay in Madrid at this time of year again. It was far too crowded. Literally thousands of people - almost to point of being dangerous. All the people were very good natured and friendly and no-one was drunk or aggressive. There were just too many people.

Clean, basic rooms in excellent location in the centre of Madrid, close to Plaza Mayor and Puerta de Sol. Walking distance to most attractions and surrounded by great little bars and restaurants. rooms are small but clean and quiet. wifi good.

Not as we thought it would be. We arrived and our room wasn't ready so we had to wait in a small computer area for about half an hour or sit in the small reception area with a dirty worn rug. We were then shown to our room and was surprised at how small it was as well as in real need of decorating as lots of scuff marks and plaster that had been knocked of the wall probably due to suitcases not having sufficient room to get to the wardrobe. I then looked at the bed which wasn't of a normal double size but of a small double. The bed linen looked as though it was very old, dirty marks, and small hairs as well as not being ironed. The decorative cushions had sweat marks on them. I then went into the bathroom to find black mould in the shower cubicle and rust and mould on the table. I then went to the reception to ask for another room to be told they were fully booked until October!! Having thought well going to have to grin and bear I asked for more pillows as there were only 1 to be told that they did not have any more. Curtains drawn due to terrible views. Air condition even on top settings wasnt very cool. Reluctantly slept on top of the bed which was so hard and uncomfortable and far to small for 2 people. Even though we were booked in for 3 nights we packed and left. Shame as the location was good.

Hostal Luz feels like home. The hotel offers very private rooms, neat and comfortable enough to rest after walking around in Madrid. The wifi is good too. The staff is very kind and I really enjoyed my conversations with Margarita, who is a superb lady. If you need any info or assistance, the staff is right there to help you.You can't beat the location, it's located close to most of every landmark of the city: Opera theater, the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol Plaza, Plaza Mayor, la Gran Via, El Corte Ingles, etc...
