"Sadly did not meet expectations"

5.0

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food served was good (though my daughter would not agree!). Free parking was a real bonus!

The bed ...mattress did not fit the base and wasn't comfortable. Late breakfast and, though the food was good, it wasn't what you'd expect. We had to rearrange it to 9am as normally they don't serve at weekends til 10. No offer of cereals (they are only provided on week days). Tea was served in a small cup with a bag in it. Unusual for these days. Staff were very willing but the set up wasn't great. Such a shame as it's a lovely place and very pleasant staff.

"Not the best of experiences, I would not return."

1.0

The only thing I liked was the location, attending a funeral in the same vilage

The booking in process was bad, there was only the bar person in attendance and we had to wait to book in. When I tried to book a breakfast for the next day I was informed that there was only a ‘Continental’ breakfast available. The next morning when I went to check that the restaurant was open at about 0830 the whole building was still locked up and a delivery of bacon and frozen scampi and other refrigerated meats was sitting on a table outside the kitchen entrance. When we finally got braekfast the ‘Continental’ breakfast consisted of 2 slices of toast, a cup of tea and a selection of cereals, the milk for which I had to go to the local Co-op to buy for the cook since they had run out and she couldn’t leave the building. For this meal I had to pay the outrageous sum of £10 per head. The room was dingy and the shower tray was cracked. We asked to stay on a little while which was agreed but were then rudely ejected by a member of staff who did not want to pay the cleaner for extra hours. There was something scrabbling around in the roof all night. All in all an experience I would not want to repeat.

The location is great for visiting family, the car park is big and has lots of spaces

The room I stayed in (room 3), has a drainage issue, the shower doesn't drain so a 2 minute shower becomes either a flooding risk or constantly having to shut off the water to wait for it to drain. There was what I'm hoping was mice in the ceiling that you could hear constantly through the day and night, very unpleasant way to wake up in the morning at 5am. The worst bit was the staff had some sort of party in the evening until gone midnight even though the pub closes at 9pm. They were singing, smoking and being incredibly loud in the courtyard- very inconsiderate of guests who have paid a lot to stay.

The adjacent pub was attractive.

The room was cold, the bedding not very comfortable, and there was no breakfast before 10 am. The bedside lamp didn’t work.

Been here a few times, rooms are good. Great to have Wadworth's 6X available on tap in the bar.

No breakfast available, so a B&B without one of the "B"s
