Holiday Inn Express Chengdu Wuhou by IHG-Wuhou Temple and Jinli

Based on the Holiday Inn Shanghai Pu Dong I booked this hotel. One very critical element for me is solid wifi and this hotel nearly struck out. I could get emails out slowly but I've had faster wifi in the Amazon jungle. My other complaint was the thermostat on the wall might as well have been a steering wheel, it didn't seem to do anything at all. It was freezing cold in Chengdu though it was 27C in my room. I would adjust the desired temp down and nothing would happen. Reception told me many of the guests were cold. I guess we should have swapped rooms. Other than that it was clean and unremarkable. I can't believe I would stay here again.

This hotel knows how to welcome and deal with non-Chinese guests which is a big bonus. The location isn't the best although it is served by the BRT system (Chengdu's fast bus service), the rooms and facilities are of the standard you would expect from Holiday Inn Express, and the breakfast is as usual disappointing. It is the reception staff that help this hotel shine!

The Bad: Toilet was dirty. Noisy corridor. Bad Frontdesk service - no greetings, no smile, no control over crowds. Below average breakfast. Almost non-existence concierge. Bad location to get a taxi. The Good: Holiday Inn quality bed... and that's all.

It was about 20C at night and daytime, but the hotel did not provide any air condition Inside the room. I was told by front desk staff that the weather is cool and therefore it s centrally turned off. Alternatively I was provided an electric fan for the night lol and it's a little bit dusty. Though the room have 2 windows, I don't think it's a good idea to open the windows while the air pollution index was over 130...I don't think I will visit this hotel again.

The hotel is fine. Nothing great. Needs a good cleaning but really not the best for seeing sights. Not close to airport(40 min), not close to pandas (40 min), not close to historical areas. A 20 min cab ride to wide and narrow street and other "hotspots" - anywhere we wanted to go.

Not the best or the worst, but this one has better choices for breakfast that other Holiday Inn Hotels in ChengDu city area; at least you can make some waffles by yourself. Good for hit and run visits to ChengDu and not very far from the airport; cleanliness is not their best point but the service is OK; facilties are not so bad either. Management Team: Please try to improve your breakfast menus; this will add more value to the service you offer.

The hotel looks fine from outside, but the interior is getting a bit dated. My room has multiple stained areas that look hard to clean, the toilet is not properly cleaned, I can see nasty stuff just by slightly bending over. there are chips and dents on furniture too. It is 12am local time here and I can hear people singing karaoke pretty loud outside the window. I think for the same price you can get west gate Holiday Inn, or the ones near Century City if you prefer to be closer to the airport. The location is ok though, there is an Ito Yokato pretty close by.

They advertize non-smoking rooms but have no control whether the visitors smoke in them or not. The cleaning ladies haven't been well trained, nor are they properly supervised. We asked for vacuum cleaning of our room. It didn't happen. When we returned from town we asked for another room, a bit better but also cigarette smoke. We asked for vacuum cleaning there, too. We said that they should not spray anything into the room - but the cleaning lady had done say (not good for asthmatic person!). Then she came to vacuum clean - she did a bit in the middle of the room but not in the corners. I had to show her how to do it properly. The vacuum cleaner was big size but very poor at sucking. I think the cleaning lady had never emptied the vacuum cleaner.... Smoking also elsewhere in the hotel. The staff says nothing, poor management. Poor quality for high price rooms. This is China!

This is the third time i stayed this hotel. Is located near my friend office and house. .
