Palm House Boutique Hotel and Spa

We thoroughly enjoyed Palm House. Beautiful premises and outright lovely staff. Dinner at De Tafel was a great experience and so were the breakfasts out on the terrace. Definitley recommend to stay here! Thanks to the entire crew.

An der Unterkunft gab es nichts auszusetzen. Wir waren im Poolhaus unterbracht. Wir wurden insgesamt sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend empfangen. Das hauseigene Restaurant ist sehr zu empfehlen.

Ein kleines Manko ist die auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite befindliche Schule, von dort kommt morgens vor Beginn der Schule und während der Pausenzeiten sehr lautes Geschrei der tobenden Kinder herüber. Mit der Morgenruhe war es leider um 7:00 Uhr vorbei.

Fernbedienung der Klimaanlage war zweimal defekt, nicht auszuschalten, so dass die Nacht etwas kalt war.

Not much

I felt compelled to write a review after a recent poor stay here. We had just finished travels to Botswana and Kruger area without issue. It was a special trip for 4 adult family members travelling from UK and we paid nearly 30k rand for 4 nights in the ‘2 bedroom suite’! To start, this is absolutely not a 2 bedroom suite, it is a small 2 bedroom family room and not suitable for 4 adults. Secondly, it also advertises high speed broadband, which we required for work, yet the internet was not even powerful enough for either of the 2 smart tv’s, so we had zero internet and zero tv access for the whole stay. The hotel knows this room has this problem and it has not been addressed. Just a few of the other problems… there is only 1 bathroom, no en suite, and if anyone uses the toilet flush or toilet sink it will scald the person using the 1 shared shower, the space is not big enough to swing a cat (clever photography), also no hooks or storage anywhere bar the built in wardrobe. The room is simply not fit for purpose in any way, this is not a cheap hotel this is a very expensive 5 star boutique. Most disappointing was the spa was closed for 2 of our days and we were not informed before arrival, staff simply shrugged at this… we had a family member who planned on using these facilities while we climbed lions head and went up table mountain etc, this was a massive inconvenience. Finally, it is a beautiful property however general standards are poor to say the least, only 2 towels and 2 water on arrival despite booking for 4, no toilet roll, house keeping not till 4pm despite only small number of rooms and staff are uninterested. 2 of us were finally moved mid stay to a spare room next to reception so we could use internet and complete work, but in our opinion front desk staff made us feel uncomfortable and clearly never grasped the problems, this move was also delayed due to no weekend manager. This also did not fix the issues for the 2 people remaining in original room.

The hotel is a little boutique oasis within a lovely suburb of Cape Town, with fantastic facilities, staff, food & drink.
