Hotel San Buenaventura De Atitlan

Excellent stay. Mayan sauna, jacuzzi and in room fire in demand. Kind staff. Restaurant could have better hours and be open more consistently (but I understand it's hours as the location doesn't have a ton of guests)

The setting was gorgeous, but the walk to and from town was a very steep hill and along a very busy road. I thought that the breakfast was included, but was told it wasn't because I booked through Expedia. Next time I would stay in town.

Have stayed many times here. The grounds, views, and setting is magnificent. The Staff (Nazario, Carlos) very attentive and helpful. The property and the amenities are in need of upkeep. The Toaster did not work, the coffee maker would not make coffee at times, and the microwave would not turn on. This is the fault of the owners, not the staff. Back in November and hope some improvement.

Amazing location, the hotels property is beautiful and has amazing views of the volcanos. Staff is professional and very helpful, Solomon works the night shift and he was extra helpful. The rooms are huge and have ton of character.

There are many things to love about this hotel. The view is absolutely incredible (right on the lake), the grounds are well-manicured with lots of beautiful plants and flowers, and there is an awesome Mayan sauna and free kayaks for use. However, the rooms are very basic: the beds and pillows are not very comfortable, the showers do not drain very well, and there were ants in the bathroom. The service was also pretty disappointing, as the front desk person in the morning told us that coffee would be available at the restaurant at 7am, but it was not available until 8am. Overall, the hotel is overpriced, but the view is hard to beat.

Great hotel! A little outside of town so you need a tuk tuk to go anywhere, except the nature preserve, which was beautiful. No A/C, so can get a little hot and stuffy in the rooms.
