Best Western Motherwell Centre Moorings Hotel

We also had a bad experience with the clown who was entertaining children from a private function in the bar area. I sat away from the clown but a bar man said I had to move because there was a large party booked in later. We ended up on a table with bar stools and after about a minute I was hit quite hard on the back by a plate a child was trying to spin. Mum and child were apologetic but we had paid quite a lot to stay here and it was just bedlam. Eventually the party cleared and we stayed for a meal which was ok although the bar man seemed rather rude and unhelpful. I got the feeling it had been a stressful day for the staff. Drinks were pricy . We nicknamed our room the dungeon as we seemed to be in the basement and our window looked directly onto a brick wall. I had the following issues: Furniture very dated Kettle was heavily calcified and didn’t automatically turn off Shower door was faulty (reported to staff) Mattress protector wasn’t big enough to fit the bed and neither was the flat sheet although they were clean. At breakfast we went to sit on a table by the window where it was sunny only to be told we had to sit where the table was laid! Wasn’t the best experience and using the public bar area for a private function is not ideal.

On the outside the hotel looked lovely

We have always had a lovely room when we’ve booked with booking.com but we nicknamed our room the dungeon as we were in the basement and the view from the window was a brick wall. The hotel had a function on going when we arrived with a clown entertaining kids in the public bar area. Not ideal as it was bedlam and I was hit on the back by a plate a child was trying to spin. Mattress protection too small for bed as was the bottom sheet which couldn’t be tucked in. Kettle heavily calcified and didn’t switch off automatically Furniture very dated Meal was ok bug staff seemed rude and unhelpful I think they had had a stressful day.

Staff were so accommodating and friendly.

Superior room was great but a little hot during the night hours.

Lovely classic building , stair case was beautiful and gave the feeling of a grand house

My room’s view was limited to a back ally

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was good size with comfortable bed. The continental breakfast had some good options, and the hot breakfast was very good. Location also good, as not far from the motorway and close to Motherwell station.

Parking was a bit tight a couple nights during my stay, but there was amble street parking.

Lovely Hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Everything about the place was exceptional. A real gem. Stay here you won't be disappointed.
