Albatross Ocean View

We’ve been to Albatross ocean view for 3 nights. The food was good, few options for breakfast (specially savory food), the hotel was nice, the employees always with a smile on their face and ready to help. Unfortunately we had some problems: starting with the smell of the room once we got to the hotel, there were leaches on the wall, some stains in the towels, the bathroom window couldn’t be fully closed (so some flies would come from outside), there was few water from the shower, the water heater was broken (they were ready to fix it - but the water was only hot for the first day and in the others it was just warm - as we had hot days during our stay it was not a problem) and the prices were overwhelming (we’ve been to other restaurants in Paje and Pingwee and the prices were lower and with better quality). Therefore it’s good hotel but the prices (food, drinks and overnight) should be lower since there are many other options nearby with better location and same or lower rates.

Albatross! What a longed-for holiday. Covid had us pend same for a full year. The resort needs a bit of upgrade though, as confirmed by the GM, Samson, however it did not impact us at all e.g. all rooms have a sea view and the beautiful beach and well-maintained pool is just a few steps away from the rooms. Due to Covid-19 the food selection was minimal i.e. very few meat options. Everything else was just how our stay was meant to unfold... the amazing Samson (who by the way stayed in touch with us throughout our trying time here in South African with Covid ) together with the Food & Beverage Manager, Frank as well as Edward the head waiter and the rest of their team possessed the most beautiful and kindest nature and their service delivery made up for it tenfold (where anything lacked). Farahaa the masseuse did a phenomenal job in getting rid of any muscle aches and tension issues the body of mine might have still suffered:-). To contextualise, we were the only guests (well we arrived with two awesome Swedish nurses about to depart the next day but not without us spending and exploring the amazing Kuza Cave in Jambiani and Heidi blessing me with 2 pairs of aqua shoes which lacked in my luggage. After their departure, we were alone (2 couples) with another couple and a single lady arriving the last two days and seen in context probably better with Covid cloud still looming and everyone cautious and it being their rain season. As indicated above and due to Covid, some items at the restaurant and the bar were lacking but not without extreme measures to obtain and satisfy our needs. As explained to friends back home... you cannot visit this beautiful country and Zanzibarian people with an attitude of negativity and impossible expectations... A perfect destination to come and explore quiet white sand beach, blue lagoon, friendly environment and kind people for a newly wed couple. The service is perfect and the food is great from different cuisines including the local dishes. We had a friendly warm welcome from Mr. Malissa and the managent. As we’re preparing for another visit next summer, we’re sincerely recommending this place. Asante sana!

Very cosy place, amazing stuff & just an amazing perfect long beach .. Best part is the owner Yana is always around to show you everywhere & help you around! Such a legend! .. Was planning for 4 days stay ended up with 10 days & definelty coming back again!

Nous venons de passer un séjour d’une semaine dans cet établissement et nous en sommes très ravis et gardons un souvenir inoubliable notamment grâce à toutes les personnes du staff de la restauration, la réception, leur bienveillance est touchante. Mention spéciale pour Rasheed et Eddie et d’autres que j’oublie de citer. Chambre « lune de miel » hyper spacieuse et propre, donnant sur la piscine avec vue sur l’océan. Marrée basse entre 10h et 14h selon mes observations. Plage propre et vaste. Piscine régulièrement nettoyée. Je recommande vivement cet établissement.

le personnel est très bien très gentil et réactif, la plage est belle naturelle et nettoyée chaque matin des algues ce qui n'est pas toujours fait pour les hôtels à côté. la nourriture est bonne et de qualité. La seule chose qui m'a gênée c'est la literie franchement très dure pour mon dos et à l'inverse des oreillers trop mous.

The hotel has brilliant staff who go above and beyond to make your stay really lovely.

This boutique hotel has a beautiful pool, ample seating and a great restaurant right on the beach. The whitewashed buildings are stunning. The beach is public but there are never a lot of people on it. The beds look deceivingly hard but are actually very comfortable. The rooms are pretty and clean, and all have ocean views. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced compared to other resorts we’ve stayed at on the island. The staff were friendly - Youngman and Samson in particular. Right next to the hotel, you can find Dongwe Sport, who have a range of water sports and activities close to the hotel. We recommend them. Overall, enjoyable stay and great value.
