Harrington River Lodge

The hotel is in a fantastic location looking over the river. Saw a few dolphins from my hotel room as I sat on the balcony enjoying the sunshine. The staff are very friendly, room is spacious with a good layout, great water pressure in the shower and a very relaxing roomy bath tub. The pool is also great. Loved the local, peaceful wildlife around the hotel too. The pub next door has a great selection of food, awesome view, very friendly staff and lots of events on.

Nothing I did t like about property

The room was very spacious, there was plenty of room for us to setup a baby gym and portacot. The bed was huge and very comfortable to sleep in. In the morning, we were able to easily access the boardwalk outside to take our baby for a short walk to see the sunrise

The adjoining restaurant closed fairly early, we arrived relatively late, around 7:30-8pm, and didn't really have time to unload the car and then go get some dinner. The carpark for the lodge was pretty hard to find when we arrived at night, not a lot of lighting to see any relevant signs. We ended up going to the restaurant to ask for directions and needed to backtrack a little bit. The area at the back is a bit sandy, and there weren't any floor mats at that door to wipe our shoes on before coming inside on the carpet. The decor is very 90's, which was ok for us, but might not be to some people's liking

Large rooms and good location in town.

This was easily one of the most bizarre accomodation experiences I have ever encountered. Woman at the front desk on Friday 3 April 2026 and Saturday 4 April 2026 was extremely standoffish and rude when we arrived. She had no record of our booking despite it being confirmed and paid for via booking.com. A search of Google reviews for this property now indicates we aren’t alone in this experience. After being spoken to as if this was our fault for not ringing the hotel and booking direct - a room was located - one of us had to sleep on the sofa the first night until bedding configuration could be sorted by cleaning the next day. No apology or offer of any refund. Next day we attend reception to confirm the bedding configuration would be made up and the women says we will actually need to pay for the booking again and seek a refund though booking.com. When we advised we would not be doing this we were told to “settle down” by this same woman. Another staff person attended reception and then apparently we did not need to pay for the booking a second time. Our keys deactivated to the room shortly after and housekeeping didn’t attend our room to make up the beds or swap towels. When we rang and asked why the room wasn’t cleaned this same woman asked us if WE had asked the cleaning staff to clean the room because that is apparently required here. We then realised the toilet paper was empty and had not been replaced. Could not contact anyone to obtain any toilet rolls as reception wasn’t manned at night. Overall - this accomodation is not cheap and the experience was so subpar it was actually weird. The woman at the front desk was so confrontational in a way I have never experienced. I would never stay here again. I would also ward off others from booking via booking.com -at best their booking system is deficient and at worst this may be some kind of scam where they attempt to get guests to pay twice on online bookings.
